After the promised decent performance from Mr Phillips on Tuesday, Saturday brings another official we should have no problems with.

We have Russell Booth from Nottingham making his second visit to the Hall, although he has done 4 away matches.

His only other home match was last season's dreadful 0-0 draw with Yeovil (mentioned in another thread yesterday).

His previous match was the Friday night away match at Cheltenham three seasons ago and before that the defeat at Rochdale 04/05 (2-1, he sent one of theirs off), the draw at Tranmere 05/06 (0-0), the draw at West Brom 06/07 (1-1, Matt Harrold's finest (only?) hour in a Southend shirt).

His card count is well below average (43 yellows and 3 reds from 19 matches) and I can remember little about him on the few occasions I've seen him officiate which is a good sign. He normally referees Championship games.

Assistants are the Ukrainian, Oly Saliy, now from London and Marvin Thompson also from London. Premiership lino, Mike Bull, makes the short journey from Chelmsford to be 4th Official.

Elsewhere a bit of good news. We shouldn't see much more of Keith Hill as he has got a job working for the Japanese FA at the end of this season.

Really? That's great news, can he take Gavin Ward with him please?!

It must be quite dangerous drinking tap water out there - he should boil it before drinking it. Best take a Kettle with him too.
