Not everyone loves the stadium

To be honest this does sound pretty similar to the Swansea City stadium. They moved from the Vetch, home for years, and right by the town centre, into a larger, further out of town modern stadium.

Were they upset at leaving the Vetch? yes, almost every home game that year was a farewell.

Do they regret moving to the Liberty? No, I don't know of one fan who thinks it was a mistake to move. yes, there probably are one or two, and a lot of this down to personal reasons of location no doubt, but the majority of Swansea fans seem happy with the new ground, proud of it even.

If/when we're to move, it'll be similar. A year of saying farewell to Roots Hall, and then the excitement of moving into the new ground.

One thing i would say though, and that's if they do turn Rootshall into flats, i'd hope that the memory would be kept alive with street names/ flat names. Pretty much for the same reason as our present ground being named "Roots Hall" after a previous building.

They could call the flats after the stands... you could have north stand flat... South Upper flat...Ect....

something that ive just checked is the Karers.org.uk web address + all other .com .co.uk combinations and they are all available.

Now how about we all chip together and buy them redirecting them to SZ or the trust site or the echo stadium plans site?

Maybe a more Web knowledgable person can check properley.

Wasn't the ground originally built on a dump?

To call it a dump might be accurate regardless of your views of the stadium!

Well, that's what the area looked like in 1880, Roots hall (the original building) is still there, and just visible on West Street, just under the "ell" of Prittlewell

I'm pretty sure that they moved further away from town than we are talking about too.

According to the AA website, Fossetts Farm is 1.9 miles from the middle of the High Street, compared to Roots Hall which is a mile away from the High Street. We're hardly moving into the sticks!

Interestingly, Fossetts Farm is practically the same distance from Roots Hall (1.2 miles), as Roots Hall is from the middle of town. You could walk from the Railway in about 15 minutes.
