The problem with the catchy little "Col Ewe fan on a string" ditty is that parts of its chorus can attract the unwanted attention of any stewards inclined to enforce the no foul language thing. Arguably too its words prevent anyone over the age of six joining in, so some parts of the family enclosure can miss out.

A suggested alternative version for today:

"When I was a little diddy boy
We went to Layer Road and we shouted for joy
The Southend Army would always win
Then we jumped up and down and the place caved in

Oh the place caved in, the place caved in
We jumped up and down and the place caved in

The place caved in, the place caved in
We jumped up and down and the place caved in"

Repeat................

Maybe give it a try?

Here's to a good day.
