This is an amazing thread. There are so many amazing pictures and stories of the club on here which the commercial team should take advantage of. There is more than enough archive to open a SUFC museum that fans could access before and after games bringing a big financial financial benefit to the club @StanCollymore ... just a thought.

Not seen this before

This is fantastic. Just watched it again, but thanks to modern technology, on the tele this time. A behind the scenes look at SUFC in dark times, but with humour, and of course disappointments. Then the great down to earth supporters. And Alan Little, who the players weren't too keen on. This shows in parts why. His comment at half time, ''Their back four doesn't know whether to have a sh++, or a shampoo'', Lol. I think that means they have all the time in the world. When in calmer circumstances, he came across as a nice guy, but just as in his playing days, he was fiercely competitive, and know to say the wrong thing to players at the wrong time. Helped us avoid the Conference though, and slashed the wage bill, as we were in danger of going bust (again). A great watch and highly recommended.

It was on the 13th Feb 1993

FA Cup 5th Round Sheffield Wednesday 2 - 0 Southend United in front of 26,446 supporters, including a big 5,000+ blue and yellow Southend travelling Army.

From the 1954/55 club handbook - they were getting excited about their new ground.

Interesting to note that with just 10 months to go to the first game there still appears to be a little bit of work left to do. Sid must have got a real shufty on

Just a bit too young and missed out on seeing the old south stand, looked massive, be interesting to see what we would have done with that after the Taylor report if Jobson decided to keep it!!

With the West standing (which I remember) bet Roots Hall looked massive where the South and West were linked

Btw, what was that caravan about at the back of the old South stand ?
