That's what they thought 5 years ago when it wasn't as cold and the pitch in front of the main stand was still frozen solid at midday
Just seen a photo on twitter, and yes, the main stand covers pitch from the sun!

I’d hope it will be on with highs of 5 today and blankets!

Some games starting to get called off already up north… Gateshead is one and the temps are similar to oldhams… but Oldham have lamps so all will be sweet 👍🏻

Here is my opinion for what it is worth ............ it's that strip that doesn't get the sun that is the problem (or potential problem) - as we have seen in the past at Roots Hall (did that not lead to the sacking of the groundsman - was it a game against Bolton?)

It could be that the rest of the ground will easily take a stud. Difficult decision for the referee I think.

Very different grounds aren't they. The stands of Boundary Park will keep off some of the colder weather I would think compared with the very open athletics ground of Gateshead. But then Boundary Park is a lot higher up & those same stands provide shade that can delay the ground from thawing. Trickey.

It's all well and good having heat lamps and pitch covers, but also they factor in conditions around the ground, do if that is icy and doesn't thaw out they can also postpone it I believe
