We must have one of the most pathetic crowds in the league. I preferred it when we had 3-5,00ish and at least backed the team fully. These days we need support more than ever and is it there? Is it bollocks! We can only get excited when we're winning or beating Man U!

Today the game is 0-0, so the home team has the responsibility to go and win the game and with a bit of backing from the crowd it's possible. Is it there? No, instead everyone would rather be silent.

Quite frankly we, as supporters, were pathetic.

I play for ShrimperZone FC, and have always been proud to represent the Shrimpers. Therefore I always give it all, and expect everyone else to do so, be it as player or supporter. Today I saw the players being workmanlike but never saw the fans raise more than a whimper. Almost likened to a " we know we're down, so who cares".

Well I for one care, and it's about f%cking time every single one of us got off our cosy cushions for the relegation ride and did our utmost to raise OUR team, and get some points on the board. Who knows, it might even be enough to keep us up!

da da da da da da da S U F C!........

Worse than gooners? Surely not

Northwest was surprisingly quiet

There was a lot of booing at the end

If you're telling me that all 3,500 people would be cheering the team off of the pitch losing at the bottom of league two then I think you're sorely mistaken!!!

We were poor today and with all the will in the world it's bl**dy hard to be cheerful!

How can you cheer when these bunch of tossers who play for us cant be bothered.Maybe you should put a few of them in the stands with us then they might realise what they are putting us through week after week.I dont know about you Mr Scotsman but I work very hard to help pay fot these so called players wages.

No I wouldn't be telling you that! But then again we're not bottom of league 2.

We're bottom of the Championship. One of the reasons I feel, is because we don't have that "up and at them" atmosphere that we had at the start of the season. Players respond to atmosphere i.e. Man U home, and when there's bugger all atmosphere it can be difficult to get going, which is why I use my sunday league analergy(sp?). When you get stuck in, everyone loves it - it's about time we, the fans, and them, the players, put it in.

If we want to stay in this division we need to start performing ON and OFF the pitch!

Where's the "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" spirit gone eh? Maybe Tilly should take the whole squad to the Odean to see Casino Royale, then afterwards say "right - I want you all to have Bond's attitude from now on".

It might work...

I never look on it as I pay their wages.

I look on it as I pay to go to see Southend United. Something I have done for years with my mates, and something we will continue to do for many years, whatever division we're in, and which I have had a great time doing so. through the good times as well as the bad. Players come and go, I, as a fan, will always be there.

It's Scots, capitalise and one t.

And perhaps it's because they are the ones talking sense. Anyone can get behind the team when things are going well and what is happening on the pitch is exciting. It takes a lot more to get behind the team when things are going badly or are flat, but that is exactly when your team needs you most.

Well done Skoda man, BTW!

Couldnt agree more

Southend United are MY team through thick and thin

PS - The sooner we sell Eastwood the better. He doesn't want to be here as he has said, and as his performances have shown.

And with the money we can can either get some decent players throughout the team, or if nothing else afford to pay the wages of those who signed at "championship levels" for the next few years.

It would be bl**dy fantastic if they could get that
'up and at them atmosphere' in the dressing room before every league game then wouldn't it!! At present we come out ready for a fight but it's very short lived. I agree that every one of us should be singing and chanting but unfortunately it isn't going to happen, it's the players that are always going to ignite the crowd and they're not doing it for the most of us at the moment. There are always the hardy few that will sing no matter what but you can't demand everyone to stand up and join in.

When was that? It doesn't matter if theres 4,000 or 10,000 in the ground, the atmosphere is usually crap.

Why not? Isn't that what being a "supporter" means? Sadly though, I think you are right, it isn't going to happen and all the years I have been going to Roots Hall it has been much the same. The Southend Fan in general won't get behind a failing team.

I just hope and pray that all the work that has been put into the new stadium to ensure that it has a good atmosphere pays off. At Roots Hall it is so hard to get anything going because of the crap acoustics. Which is why I don't think I will miss the Hall too much.

From a personal viewpoint I was just numb. I'm usually quite vociferous, but today I thought we were just lacking in any direction, disjointed and I couldn't find it in myself to go nuts for 90 mins.
I hate to say it, but like most the team, I've accepted the inevitable.

Sorry guys.

today most of the players were moaning at each other on the pitch, so you would expect the fans to follow suit witch they did.

Sorry, but I just wasn't exaactly in the mood for singing and dancing today. I'd got myself quite expectant that this was going to be the match where we turned it around but it was the same as we have been doing since day two of our season. Namely, always managing to be poorer in defence than good in attack and losing winnable games.

I was chanting away until about thirty minutes gone when it became clear that two months of Sundays wouldn't be enough for us to muster any serious chances.

To anyone who questions Maher's place, by the way, the fact that we haven't scored a single goal and barely had a serious chance since he was dismissed speaks absolute volumes. We were screaming out for a ball player of his calibre in the middle today.
