You know ***** all matey, he hasnt even been for a scan or seen the specialist yet! Talk about talking utter tripe

I would have thought anyone who made such a statement would at least have the balls to apologise. Or are you to busy eating your large slice of humble pie.

No goalkeepers worth their salt will come in on loan just to sit on the bench. They might as well stay where they are and do that. The only way you'll get a goalkeeper in on loan is if you have no fit goalkeepers, and they're guaranteed a start.

Read the post again mate. He said keepers without a club. We might be able to get someone unattached who would come in to get paid again and keep fit. They might get a chance if Ted gets injured and then impress enough to get a contract here or elsewhere in the summer.

When Oxley first joined the Club and I saw him play I had serious misgivings that he was not up to the mark. As matches came and went he and Teddy were equally inconsistent and I was even more concerned. Then stuff happened, either through better coaching or through a more settled back four, and he just got better and better. Whilst he was never going to be serious DBs he was good enough for me, and therefore No1 choice. It's amazing what fate has in store for footballers, and now fractures galore and Teddy doing well have conspired to totally **** up poor old Oxley's season. I really do feel for the guy. Get well soon Ox, you never know, you may be a GK at a Championship side next season.

I felt that when Oxley joined us he struggled with confidence probably due to having an unsettled defensive unit and the team generally playing poorly. Bringing Ferdinand in brought much needed cohesion to the back four which had a positive effect throughout the side, but particularly with Oxley. Ted will benefit massively now from this.

Fair point, although I doubt any 'keeper without a club would be any good. Having said that I've haven't seen a list of unattached 'keepers.

we're 9 point away from being safe. Let's let the kids have a go. So what our keepers are young?
I'd like to see youth get a chance, so let's do it

We're also only 5 points off 3rd place, no room for sentiment in football.

We have continued our good streak with Smith in goal, we don't need to get anyone in to replace Oxley. I agree, give youth a chance. Give Smith 2 or 3 years and he will be a better keeper than Bentley

PB says an operation is needed today and he isn't sure if he'll be back before the end of the season.

Any updates on the Ox? Will he be back before the end of the season?
How long was his contract? Will he be with us next season?
Should he be straight back in, when fit, or has ted done enough to keep the starting place?
IMO Ted has done a 7/10 job and is getting better with more games and confidence.

Interesting position re Oxley. I hope he is back before the end of the season but would I make the change and bring him in ahead of Smith? Not sure but perhaps so if Oxley gets a couple of reserve games under his belt.

I would expect Oxley to be here next season (assuming that is the same division as we are in now).

Ted has been good some games and quite poor in others but in his defence he wasn't helped by the back four (or sometimes 5) at times .............. so I still have yet to make my mind up about him.

I think the last update I read (or heard on blues player) about him was that he would hopefully be back for around mid April, so assuming he''s recovery goes well, I would imagine that would mean for the last 3 or possibly 4 games of the season. Of course that doesn't mean he will automatically walk back into the squad.

Somebody asked him about his return on his twitter account yesterday after the game, but he hasn't responded. They also tagged in Chris Phillips, so hopefully he will ask the question also, and we may have a clearer picture later this week.

Oxley has a contract for next season.

Meaning that Oxley will be with us next season?

My post was alluding to there being other options ............. Ox might say he wants to be back north, contract might be cancelled by mutual consent, Ox might fail to get back to full fitness, Ox might be transfer listed etcetera.

Personally I hope we look to sign another keeper this summer. Oxley doesn't instill me with confidence and Ted is still too young and raw for regular League One football IMHO. I'd be looking to let Oxley go and have Ted as No 2 behind an experienced and proven goalkeeper.

I thought prior to getting injured Oxley was started to play well so let's wait and see when he is fit before getting him released

Looking into his contract length, the media isn't that clear on when his contract finishes. It states until 2018, but does that mean until January 1st 2018 when the window re-opens or for 2 years from once he signed?

I presume it's the latter, and he is under contract until July 2018. Meaning that Phil won't be looking for another goal keeper next season in the transfer window, unless Ron gets a good money offer for young Ted. Or of course, as others have mentioned he leaves by mutual consent.

Has a contract until summer 2018. Would expect him to stay until at least then, rated quite highly by Brown as I understand it. Had just started to look the part prior the injury, would expect him to have a chance to prove himself as our number 1 next pre-season no matter what league we are in next year.
