Now U-21's coach at Spurs. Shows that even if you have a bad time of it in the conference, if you are patient, opportunities may just arise. Tilly really shot himself in the foot when he took the Canvey job. Surely if he would have waited a while longer he would have got another crack at either conference or league two level. May have been relegated but the guy achieved 2 promotions and had a 40% win ratio.

But Brush is a lot more experienced and well-connected than Tilly is. After being sacked at Lincoln I don't think Tilly was ever going to get another Football League job.

Brush was always the brains behind the operation here. It all started to go **** when he left and Tilson was left alone.

That's a cheap shot and also inaccurate, it was the failure of the chairman to pay the players that caused everything to fall apart.

So why is Paul Brush working at a Premier League club with aspirations of Champions League football and Steve Tilson working at a college?

Nonsense, we were already well in trouble.

Players hadn't been paid for months, we were under embargo and couldnt even field a proper defence.

If Brush was the mastermind how come he failed to keep Lincoln up?

Has no relevance to their time here.

Brush is running the kids, he is hardly managing the first team.

As assistant he also doesnt have the tarnished record of relegations, not that getting a job as a youth coach would be affected by that.

So why didn't RM promote Brush to manager if he was the "brains" behind all the success ? Why can't you give Tilson credit for assembling a good back room team instead of slagging him off ? Pathetic !!!!!!

Brush has been at Spurs for some time now,he has a good reputation as a coach. With regards to Tilly being out of work as a pro football manager there are a lot more roles to be had as a coach than as a football manager which is what Tilly seems to still want but after being sacked by Lincoln then Canvey this seems unlikely.

Simply incorrect. Brush was sacked because we were doing badly (although he or Tilson couldn't have done much about it). You either have a bad memory or you are making this up.

Your lack of respect towards past managers and players sums up the ego's and arrogance that comes with this pile of **** site, you wanted success and you wanted glory, we got it with Tilly, Barrett, McCormack etc yet you patronising bell ends sit in your under sized football shirts with your soppy nicknames on the back, having the audacity to mock someone who guided us through one of our most successful periods!!! I despise some of you cretins who vacate this site....... Shame on you

Tilly and Brush are both good, regular guys.
Tilly likely, still, wants to be a manager while Brushy has always seemed more behind the scenes; as such, in the dog eat dog football world Brushy is a safer, non competitive/ non job rival and so more likely to be employed.
Tilly got royally shafted in his last year here and he really chose badly in going to a skint and asset stripped Lincoln where Chris Sutton had created both domestic dressing room strife and commercial suicide in about 3 months.
Canvey was another place right on the slide.
To slag both or either off on this or any other site and still believe you are supporting the club shows a lack of class and understanding of the dire straights T & B took us from and the great days we enjoyed.

The INABILITY of the chairman. Failure implies he simply chose not to which is equally inaccurate.
Clearly you haven't got a clue what you're talking about. The players were deliberately not paid to goad some of them into walking, hence terminating their contracts and letting our less than ethical chairman off the hook rather than having to keep paying them high wages. Unethical, immoral and something I and many others will never forgive him for. You don't **** on your own doorstep........unless of course you have no conscience. All allegedly of course !!!!!

Brush was sacked because he made an issue out of the problems we were having off the pitch.

Thats not quite what happened.

We actually couldnt pay any of the players for months, we had a 2 million tax debt sitting over us and there was no money, it wasnt a deliberate act.

That said my understanding from what stories came out at the time he did make a conscious decision at the end of the season to not pay those players we did want out of the club though. Even Tilson had monies owed to him for some time after leaving (if they ever got paid).

Which is exactly what I said in my post

Yes and what you said was correct, in part.

Your post was in disagreement with someone saying it wasnt his choice.

The reasons for not paying players to begin with was not a decision he made, it was something he was forced into by the money issues.

So the person you disagreed with was correct, and you were also correct later on in the saga when Im sure players like Barrett were allowed to terminate their contracts through non-payment.

I agree with Shrimpin and Massimo,

Tilly and Brush are IMO still heroes at this club and I shall never ever forget those days .

Agreed about respect for Tilson and Brush. It bugs the hell out of me when people forget what they achieved - or worse, remember it but discredit the achievement. But it's hardly the accepted view of this pile of **** site though, is it? I'd say more people agree with what you've written then don't.
