There are really times when some of you on here are completely moronic. I posted something I thought would be of interest to a lot of you on here with the Who having been such giants in the music world and probably quite significant in many of your lives musically and suddenly it's turned into a tirade on child pornography and generally patronising have a go at me time.

As to those having a pop, well, it's the fairly usual culprits in the main, amazing how they all group together at times like this - and I suppose as it's silly season then it's fair enough. Don't take it personally Kay but your defence of Townsend and previously Michael Jackson (on the basis that he didn't bum the kids, he was just alleged in a court of law to have tossed them off a bit so that's ok really) leads me to suspect that you have fallen into the trap of the "celebrity nonce."

Did you also believe Gary Glitter when he claimed he was out in Cambodia "on business"?

The Who are musical hero's of mine and always will be. I do though have to seperate the music from the individuals concerned.

At best Townshend was very silly and ill advised, at worst he is a despicable pervert. I don't know which it is or if it's actually somewhere in between the two. Whatever is the answer he did pay his own money to one of these sites and if he's not a paedophile as he claims then he has still contributed financially to the sick abuse of innocent kids.

I won't let that taint my love for their music, however if I was in that hall over the weekend my thrill of seeing one of my musical hero's would be tainted.

I think it's fair that this topic has started a debate about his alleged crimes. I don't think that should reflect badly on you though Kay, you didn't do anything wrong in posting this up and in what you said.

To be fair to Berrichonne shrimper I don't believe Townshend has ever denied paying money to such a site. It was his motives behind it that he defended. I could be wrong though.

That article is wrong - it claims Townsend was "falsely accused" of accessing child pornography when he never denied doing it or paying for it on his own credit card.

I'm quite sure the allegations were quite widely debated on here at the time the incident happened, which was before my time on here so I have no idea who said what or who may have defended him. Where I draw the line is that both he and Jackson have been investigated and effectively proved "innocent" - ok, I know PT admitted looking at the sites, but there was no more than that. GG, on the other hand, is a proven scumbag of the highest order, as found in a court of law and has served time (not nearly enough) for his offences. The cases are completely different.

Whatever people believe about Jackson, he was exonerated. On the scale of misdemeanor here we are at complete opposite ends anyway, and I object completely to PT being tarred so unequivocally with the same uncompromising bald statement that he must be a paedophile and the insinuations that went along with this.

Alas due to the fact that im a dunce i can niether read or write but i did deal in the facts as in he DID download and pay for stuff that may be ok in your world but its not in mine and never will be.If people didnt pay for it then there would be no market for it,and you or anyone else can not defend the undefendable.
As for being judge jury and th other one,not me i will leave that to those that know everything about everything.

MJ bought his way out of trouble - any normal bloke on the street would have gone down for it. The first kid knew what Jackson's crown jewels looked like - complete with white blotches etc etc which was unlikely to have been a lucky guess. As for Townsend, you may well be right and he may just have been doing "research" for a "book I'm writing" that nobody knew about and was never written. I bet he doesn't get asked to babysit very often though.

I find it very hard to accept that it is the same group of posters on here that repeatedly take issue with things I say/write and then also have a go at me for being neurotic. It may be a bloke thing, I'm afraid, as a woman I don't see the attraction in porn sites of any sort, however, I am aware there are sick people out there with perverted practices (remember the couple in Wakering with the dog reported recently?), I understand people being angry but I'd much rather reserve my anger and derision for people like Ian Brady, Thompson and Venables, Sidney Cooke and co.
