CEO Gary Lockett negotiated a promotion bonus with Pboro when we sold them Ferdinand - sounds like a shrewd move if they are in the mix to go up next season.

Didn't Bailey have a similar one when he went to Charlton and think that was promotion from the Championship. His first season there was the relegation from the Championship!

The clauses only work if they are promoted from the division the player is in when you sign them. So I would suggest it is useless unless Peterborough make the premier league.

Not at all what I was told and covers promotion from any Division and was negotiated to cover the scenario that has happened in that they get relegated and then promoted the following season.

Well I went for lunch with a football agent up in Manchester a few weeks ago that gives me referrals to his clients and that was not what I was told.

Why would Peterborough be willing to pay us money for Kane's help in getting promotion to the division they were already in when they signed him?

Because it's a way of deferring any fee due to us at least two years and it makes it contingent on two events happening, which makes it's more likely that it isn't triggered.

They have to be promoted. Ferdinand has to still be under contract when they get promoted. This is Peterborough United we are discussing. Despite Donny Rovers getting back up - it aint easy!

Relegation probably won't be a bad thing for Kane. He'll get more chance to cement his first team place.
