Yep. spot on!

If being a failure is getting a side promoted and until the final few matches, consolidating them in a higher division and just missing out on the play-offs, then I'd be interested to know what a successful manager is meant to achieve here!

Agreed Andy, I was never Phil's biggest fan, and thought we moved on from him at the right time. However he had his success with Southend and to applaud his sacking IMO is in bad taste.

I'm guessing the majority of those sticking the knife in are too young to remember the likes of Martin, Little and Newman. What a horrible period that was!

Yep, with you Dan.

I, too, felt the drive had gone from PB and it was time for both parties to move on but him and Sturrock got us to where we are now and prior to that we had Tilly.

RM has been a patient chairman and off the back of this, we've had a lot of success in the last 15 years.

As a man, I really liked him...as a man manager, hmmm....not so sure. There was a lot of **** went on behind the scenes and he didn't always cover himself in glory.

I've never understood how people can say we got promoted in spite of Brown, if tactics apparently don't matter in League 2 then why should clubs bother appointing a manager in the first place? More likely Brown's tactics favoured a big target man like Barry Corr, so when we failed to replace him the cracks started to show. That doesn't mean he had nothing to do with our promotion, it just means he had the players that season to adopt a strategy he was comfortable with.

Unsurprising really Swindon are one of the biggest clubs in league 2 and you would assume have a bigger budget than most other clubs in the league so to be 17th I'm league at this stage is poor.

Yes most people would assume that but they are all wrong. PB had a 42% budget cut in Player wages from last season. That's why their previous manager walked out. I have also heard some things about their Chairman from people within the game, including he likes to be involved in every signing

Swindon are a bigger club than ours, so their fans were never going to be happy. They were spoilt with that Di Cannio super budget that bought them a L2 title.

Somebody asked me whether it would be worth having a bet on Swindon at the start of the season. I told them to put their money on a early PB sacking....I certainly didn't have them as a top 5 choice in the prediction league.....I went for far safer bets, like Notts County

I wonder where he will end up from here, another league two club would be my bet, I’ll wait for the next sacking.

He may not have covered himself in glory but he did cover himself in St. Tropez.

He may find it difficult to get another management role, maybe Director of Football or something similar might be his best bet. Otherwise he is just the sort of guy to end up on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
I think there’s more chance of him being on Jeremy Kyle show:Hilarious:

Looks like Swindon are about to appoint Richie Wellens as their new manager. It’s gone down like a fart in a lift on their forum (glad to see it’s not just us who are quick to judge/write off!)

I wouldn’t put it past him to try Strictly either... not that I ever watch that, but I might tune in to see Tango tango!

According to Sky Noel Hunt is set to be appointed as his assistant as well.
