This Brown thing is a complete non-story. The Sun is owned by the same person who owns Sky, who employ Phil to do punditry etc.

So, Phil clearly does not have a problem with his employer otherwise he wouldn't be working there last night.

And the story itself is old and hardly news-worthy. Which makes me wonder - what's the point of it all?

Of course, Phil's angling for a new deal - even though there's a year left. And the stadium saga rolls on.

I'm always a believer in the simplest things are normally right - maybe the Sun needed a page to fill and the journo involved had a story which could fill the gap and they were desperate for something. But then, why did Phil still do the gig last night?

I have no issue with Phil doing punditry, it helps with our image. I have no issue with his personal affair(s). It was rumoured before about him and the Hull chairman's daughter - and everyone knows he's a smooth operator.

But, just but. The timing seems weird - he's not big news. Southend isn't big news. Maybe just maybe there's a bit of weird media manipulation going on.

Thoughts?
