Interesting article. I'm not sure how the player owns goals per game data - to me that's in the public domain.

Not convinced the players will be getting paid for this in the future, the data is essentially used to market themselves to other clubs so it's in their interests (unless they're crap) for analysis companies to have access to it. The players might be given an opt-out option as a result of this (the biometrics data anyway, I'm pretty sure data like goals scored is publicly available) but I'd be surprised if the players will getting paid if they opt-in, they have no bargaining power.
