Yes, Trevor Bailey played for the reserves and Essex. And Anton Otulakowski used to be a gymnast.

Any other players who played for us and played a different sport at a decent level?

He didn't play for Southend, but did score against Southend for Great Wakering and represented GB at 110 metre hurdles - Gianni Frankis. Tough one otherwise though.

What about Simon Royce ? Wasn't he a gymnast on the trampoline?

Bill Garner was useful with a cricket bat ..............especially at Chalkwell Park!!

Gordon Barker played 61 games for Southend 10 goals between 1954 & 1959.

Played cricket for Essex his first class batting record pretty useful - Played 451 matches between 1954 & 1971, scored 22,288 runs, highest score 181 not out, Average 29.21, 30 x 100's, 50 x 50's,

Roy McDonough was also a UFC fighter, it's just he combined the two.

Uncle Ronny Martini was a member of Great Britain's Olympic Bobsleigh team in 1980? Does that count?

didnt we have just a couple of seasons ago someone from the backroom staff who got into a boxing ring , also a CB who is a boxer now.And does pocket billiards come under the name of a sport , im sure a few players have played that in the past.Sure im right as many times when i was living in Southend and watching the team play, i heard some supporters calling players ******s.:hilarious:

Former Vice Chairman John Adams' son, Chris, played cricket for Sussex and England.

If you're moving the goalposts (twice) to relatives of non-players, then Jim Fryatt's son was a top flight golfer who made the PGA Championship.

Is Ted Hankey the darts player any relation of the Ted Hankey that played for us?
