Players wages last season

Sorry if this has been covered before, I try to read as many of the posts that I can, but some will inevitably get missed.

There are still constant references to the players last season under-performing because they weren't getting paid and who can afford to work for nothing. But I was under the impression that we suffered the embargo because the club ran up a debt with the PFA because THEY paid the wages.

Did they not pay everyone? Did they just pay a percentage of the wage?
If the team were paid in this way, can we please stop using this excuse for the relegation and concentrate on supporting the team we have now, whatever the results.

The PFA underwrite the players wages so ultimately they were always going to get paid at some point (of course that doesn't excuse non-payment and doesn't help when you need to make next month's mortgage payment). We borrowed money from the PFA in, I think, February to cover outstanding wages then but due to our fundamental inability to generate cash and the need to avoid being wound-up by HMRC we were never going to be able to pay the remaining wages. I think I'm right in saying that the players didn't get paid by the Club throughout the whole of the second half of the season and that Tilson & Brush were equally far behind without having the PFA safety net to rely on.

So you're partially right.
