Breaking News *POSTPONED* Southend Utd vs Cambridge Utd 21st November 2020 15:00hrs FL2

What would be your starting 11 for Saturday and what do you think the result will be?

Yet we know every player who has tested positive in the prem.

That's usually when it's only 1 or 2 at a time and hasn't caused a postponement though. Like with Salah. Would have raised questions if he sat out matches and wasn't pictured at training. Probably different and easier to keep it under wraps when it's a number of players and it has caused a postponement.

We know it’s not Oxley or Seaden, as they said we had 2 goalkeepers available. (Which leaves the door wide open for someone to question Oxley’s ability to catch anything!)
And there was me thinking uou were about to crack a joke about them not being able to catch anything in the air.

Ashley Nathaniel-George, Emile Acquah and Kazaiah Sterling

Agree although Taylor also shown as first team keeper.

My guess is Like yours Ox and Seaden were ok

Once again Martin's abysmal attempts at basic communication has caused problems. To conflate positive covid-19 tests with injuries was sheer stupidity, inviting an investigation and unnecessarily muddying the waters. Why does he keep bringing these problems down on the club when surely a moment's reflection would have told him it was playing with fire by mentioning injuries.

Because the publicity would have been so much better if we'd said we can't play because we have all of 3 players with covid?

We're missing more players because of injury (Lennon, McCormack, Kyle Taylor, Richard Taylor) than covid (ANG, Sterling, Acquah).

The reason was injuries and Covid.

EFL announcements re. other clubs' COVID postponements were similarly-worded to the one about our's. They're all subject to investigation of the circumstances.

Similar but they seem to talk about cancelling multiple matches. What makes Saturday match unplayable but Tuesday's match playable?

Consider the situation facing Tranmere Rovers last month:

Tranmere chairman Mark Palios feels it was "incredible" that the club had to draft in youth players to fulfil their Sky Bet League Two fixture against Salford despite positive coronavirus tests depleting the squad.
Ahead of Saturday's match at the Peninsula Stadium, two unnamed Tranmere players returned positive Covid-19 results, which in turn resulted in four other players having to self-isolate.
The fast-developing situation, coupled with injuries and an international call-up, left Rovers boss Mike Jackson with only 10 first-team players available for selection.

Palios said the club had approached the EFL for guidance, but were told if they had youth-team players who were fit then "we had to play" or face an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the late cancellation and potentially disciplinary action which could result in a 15-point penalty.

An EFL spokesperson said: "To suggest that a sporting sanction of 'up to 15 points' could be applicable as a result of potentially not playing a fixture is at best extremely misleading for supporters of both Tranmere Rovers and other clubs across the EFL.

"As the League has stated previously, it is up for each individual club to determine whether it is able to fulfil its fixture commitments.

"There are clear Covid related protocols in place that all clubs must adhere to alongside government guidance.

"Each situation is looked at on a case-by-case basis depending on what factors are present within each club and that is why some matches have been postponed whilst other clubs have been cleared to play, with the health, safety and wellbeing of players always being the priority.

"In the event a club does inform the league it is unable to fulfil a fixture, in normal circumstances, the club is deemed guilty of misconduct and charged with a breach of EFL regulations. If that same situation arises as a result of Covid-19 positive tests, the League would firstly look at the specific circumstances, before determining whether a club was to be subject to a charge.

"In both scenarios it would be an independent disciplinary commission not the EFL that would determine any sanction, if applicable, having heard representations from both parties. However, there is no sporting sanction tariff in this regard and a commission determines the type of punishment and to what level.

Is it an issue of timing and/or Covid bubbles?

Was it too late to call up youth team players? Either practically or in terms of receiving league approval?

Do players need time to move between Covid bubbles?

Anyway, Ron's biggest supporters are already rubbing their hands together with glee. Any points deduction makes the EFL public enemy no.1 instead of Ron. If we're relegated it will be those nasty EFL people to blame and not Ron.

Ashley Nathaniel-George, Emile Acquah and Kazaiah Sterling

So all those blaming Elvis's international duty were miles off?

thing is i had a covid test sat and was told that it takes 48 hours for the results . So if he players were tested friday they would have been told to isolate as i have been .

So guess we're playing Tuesday.

Rush, Goodship and Egbri to play? Youth bench?

There is I believe an issue regarding squad & training bubbles and moving at short notice from one to the other. A total of 4 players were impacted by the COVID issue incl. the three mentioned. The difference between Sat and Tues is that Elvis will have recovered from travelling, Ollie Coker available, Kip’s back from loan and they are hoping Olayinka fit- in which case we have 4 additional available and 5 subs.
Ron’s supporters can stand down as there still won’t be a points deduction. For most on here neither EFL or Ron are always in the wrong...hopefully we don’t lose the ability to address each circumstance on its merits rather than it having to comply with a pre-conceived prejudice either for or against..

Err, I don't recall Grimsby Town, Leyton Orient, Accrington Stanley, Crewe Alexandra, Swindon Town, Scunthorpe United or AFC Wimbledon (plus several National League sides) having any points deductions this season. Is it a crime now to own up to having Covid in the ranks alongside injuries?

No points deduction, but we did get kicked out of the League Cup because Spurs were too busy to play us at a later date. The slags.

I still cannot believe that happened. Absolutely stinks.

Did you get some form of reimbursement from Tottenham? How can they just progress?
