Pound for Pound King Mayweather Reigns Blows Over Molesley

The American public have never taken to the showboating arrogance of Floyd Mayweather Junior, so much so that they tend to cheer for his opponent... Such was the magnitude of his performance, the watching audience couldn't help but cheer Pretty Boy Floyd resoundingly.

In the build-up, much was made of this being a potential banana skin for a Mayweather who has had just one fight in the last two years following a 21 month retirement. You would even be forgiven for believing this if the first round was anything to go by.

Molesley exploded out of the traps to worry Money Mayweather, landing a sequence of blows that may not have landed sweetly, but seemed to have the five weight champion worried. All those worries were soon dispelled, however, as Mayweather launched his action plan.

In typical effervescent fashion, Mayweather bobbed and weaved around the ring with the speed and exuberance that has come to be expected of the pound for pound King contender. Molesley, buoyed by his exploits in the opening round, soon found himself on the back foot having fallen victim to a number of heavy right hands and, in all fairness, he looked far from the fighter that dismantled Oscar De La Hoya almost a decade ago.

Rounds four through eight seemed nothing more than a sparring exercise for Mayweather, who probed and pressed for the openings with enough speed and force to power a piston engine... Mayweather was driving through Molesley with little effort and little danger.

The fight was over by the tenth round, but the warrior that 38 year old Molesley is stood strong until long the finish and a unanimous points victory maintained Pretty Boy Floyd's perfect record. He took the time in his post fight interview to respond to questions aimed at the prospect of reviving a Pacquiao superfight, but Mayweather kept his resolve and maintained his stance that the fight will happen, given Manny's agreement to drug testing in the lead up to the fight.

Mind games or not, the truth of the matter is that both Pacquiao and Mayweather seemingly have noone left to fight but eachother; they've laid the competition in their wake and it's almost inevitable that the pair close their respective careers to determine once and for all just who is the undisputed pound for pound King.

After this performance, it's a brave man who will doubt Mayweather.

As an aside... watch out for Saul Alvarez. A 19 year old Mexican Welterweight who fought on the undercard last night, he turned professional at just 15 and dominated Jose Miguel Cotto last night despite an early knock down. He's a real fighter with a definite future.

Was impressed with that kid , however im certain he ddint take a count in the first , as he bounced off the ropes , was a great recovery as he had been hurt big time by that clubbing left hook ......defo one for the futures .

ps doesn't look like a Mexican with his ginger hair .

He didn't take a count, which I thought was a strange decision as if it weren't for the ropes he would've hit the canvas.

His gingerness has earnt him quite a unique nickname, The Cinnamon Kid.

Fairplay to Mayweather though as he said the only way to make sure the sport is clean from drugs is to have the type of testing that he is proposing. Molesley was happy to go along with it, so why shouldn't other fighters?

The longer Pac'o refuses to takes this type of testing the more questions will be asked as to whether he actually has had help getting to where he is.

It's got nothing to do with PED's if you ask me...Mayweather knows that Pacquiao is incredibly unlikely to have taken anything given his devout religious beliefs.

It's mind games, something that few come close to FMJ on. Pacman has spoken out before about random blood tests, saying that he needs to prepare himself as he thinks it makes him weaker to give blood so close to a fight and Mayweather is simply tugging at that.

Few people think it's because Pacquiao's scared of needles... I find that very hard to believe given the number of tattoo's he has.
