Great article in the Telegraph today regarding the Premier league and how much money clubs make and lose.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/9255617/Revealed-the-financial-health-of-the-Premier-League-laid-bare.html

Its based on financial accounts 2010/11 and if I were a Blackburn or Bolton fan Id be very worried.

Bolton lost 17 million that season, Blackburn 15 million.

It also omits Birmingham who havent yet filed accounts and have had a transfer embargo because of it. Seeing as they missed out on promotion Id be interested to see what happens there in the next year.

The only teams with a positive cash flow were Arsenal (who have almost wiped out their Emirates debt already), Blackpool, Man Utd, Newcastle, Spurs and Wolves, althought Everton and Wigan are pretty much breaking even.

Man City made a loss of 178 million. Not bad going :)

Well worth a read if you can get a copy or

There's an incredibly strong correlation between wage and finishing position.

Only three clubs finished more than two places outside of where they were ranked in terms of wages: Bolton, who ranked 11th in wages but finished 14th; W*** H** who hilariously finished 20th when ranked 12th in wages with only West Brom noticably outperforming their wages, finishing 11th on the 18th highest wages.

How utterly depressing.

Pretty modest debts though.

Oh indeed, there figures dont matter to them as they are bankrolled. Its clubs like Bolton/Blackburn who are making losses who will struggle in the Championship, when you get others like Blackpool and Wolves who are better managed ont he face of it.

Same as Man Utds debts are 300million, yet the Glaziers have increased their commercial income they get from a couple of million to 100 million plus, which is far more than the interest on the debt. (from Talksport this morning). Bet the Man Utd fans who complain of the debt dont realise that.

and the same bloke who moans about it has probably made a small fortune out of selling green and yellow scarves!
