LDV VANS TROPHY FINAL: SOUTHEND UNITED VS WREXHAM

BLUES Owner Ron Martin has called for a Press Conference at 10am ahead of the LDV Vans Trophy against Wrexham. Manager Steve Tilson & defender Adam Barrett will also be present.
Media companies should confirm their attendance by e-mailing rosshill@southend-united.co.uk.

Yep probably just the usual, lads are up for it, cant wait etc etc..

Tilly is standing down to run the youth team again and Ron's first choice Ian Atkins is going to take over.

Ron was heard saying "Things have got to change. We should have been promoted already and our style of play is fat too exciting at time. Although we have the best defensive record in the division, we still have conceded too many goals. I am hopeful that Ian's long ball style will be far more entertaining and lead Southend into a more succesful era."

To reveal that the whole team (other than Gower & Gray) will on Sunday be sporting rather natty white boots.

Mark & Wayne will though have to play in £5.99 Woolworths plimsolls on Sunday as the expense of buying all these flash boots has now taken us 117% over budget.

You seem to have missed the irony within my post on the slating that Gower has been getting for his choice of coloured footwear over the past few weeks.

and these are the ones with the dangerous soles that have caused nasty injuries!

Why would Barrett be attending? Surely maher as club captain would be ahead of him? Unless the conference is something to do with Barrett. Perhaps he has failed a drugs test!

Unless it's to announce AB as new club captain!!

Could see this happening but not until the summer.

It's certainly not going to be bad news this close to the LDV final - wouldn't want to rock the boat. I'd guess Barrett to be club captain or he's signing a new long-term contract or has just been chosen to represent Britain in next year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Something to do with Wrexham's call for an "fans united" day for the final on Sunday? We could be playing in front of a full house if the authorities give it the go-ahead.

Would it not be a bit late notice for such an event..

To get an extra 35,000 fans in the ground on the day would be unpresidented

Should be obvious I'd have thought. Tilson and Brush sacked for bringing success to the club. Merger with Canvey Island announced, Alvin Martin brought back to club to lead us into the Essex Senior League.
