I have heard that the sale of Prospects to Lidl has fallen through owing to the CPO still hanging over the plot.

Sainsburys back on ?

I'd heard that the Prospects site was contingency if the Eastwood one was turned down.
Wonder what Mr Bates will do now?

The roller coaster continues. Cue lots of posts on what this might/might not mean, with no info from the club.

Should be in today's Echo.

Echo states "Lidl pulls out of Roots Hall deal see page 9" You turn to page 9 but nothing on there or on any other page! An amateurish publication at times. Will probably be on their website and in tomorrows edition.

But we were told as fact by people on here that the CPO didn't count for anything.

Indeed. Always thought it was unsellable with a CPO still a possibility and was surprised they managed to sell it in the first place.

Its pretty unfair on prospects, they are now trapped by a project that hasnt shown any real reality of progressing.

Probably/possibly the CPO has dissuaded the purchasers but of course the CPO would only be of concern if parties believed the project at RH was a tangible possibility.

What this matter does highlight, and we are all guilty of it, we often think we know more than we do. Certainties become maybe's and 'in the know's' become as much 'in the dark' as the rest of us.

I feel quite sure, that if the correct buttons had been pressed, the council could have withdrawn any CPO threat if the council truly thought the RH project was a non-starter.

I assume, and am open to being wrong here, that as ever there are many things going on behind the scenes and the majority of us will only find out the truth if diggers start at FF or an announcement is made stating the project is a dead duck.

As far as I know we have not even had Sainsbury's state that they have no intention of a store at RH despite their scaling back on new developments. We are definitely the proverbial mushrooms.
