The below post sets out how the protest needs to be carried out - its a requirement that this information is published.

I have done a considerable amount of liaison with the Essex Police, and continue to do so. They never give permission to protest – but are working with both Save our Southend and the Club to ensure everyone stays safe and within the law.

We will be meeting from 12 noon. We are only allowed to be in the car park that you enter from Victoria Avenue or via the gap at Roots Hall drive. We will not be permitted to go over the wall into the main car park. If you do enter that car park you will be filmed and that might lead to further police action as a result. Similarly, the protest is confined to the car park, we cannot disrupt the traffic or congregate in other areas – at that point both public order and Covid regulations come into play.

The event will be policed and the stewards will be those employed by the club. We have an excellent working relationship with the police, and it is important that we follow their instructions at all times.

We must be off the premises by 5:30pm.

We have had to produce a risk assessment for the event, this covers the following:-

  • If you are showing any symptoms of Covid or have been in contact with anyone who has Covid in the last ten days, you must not attend.
  • Please follow hygiene advice before leaving home. Hand washing facilities are not available, though there will be hand gel available.
  • We should endeavour to follow the 2m social distancing regulations at all time
  • Please scan the QR code when entering the car park
  • Masks are not mandatory, but in the event of any chanting etc, they should be worn.
  • Alcohol is not permitted
  • Bins will be available, please use them
  • Nearest public toilet facilities are in Priory Park
The most important things are that everyone stays safe and out of trouble.
