I am buying a console for my children and access will be dictated by good behaviour and schoolwork.

I haven't bought a new console since the PS2 and am torn between the PS4 (I might want to play PES, Metal Gear and Gran Turismo) and the XBox One (which seems to have much stronger parental controls).

Any experts care to venture an opinion?

I've got the PS4 and for £12 a month you can download a shedload of PS3 games which keeps MK Jnr amused when she's driving like a loon in Crazy Taxi. Otherwise it just gathers dust in the corner as I just can't be arsed with games any more.

My house doesn't have dust.

Xbox One here, Playstations are rubbish. Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris owned one. Probably.

To be honest no idea what they are like in comparison, cant imagine too much. I know there are some games on PS not on Xbox and Xbox you have to pay for the annual subscription, but I dont really play games on it anyway, we mainly use it as a media centre these days for Plex.

I would also opt for a PS4.

Don't know if you've bought one yet, but currently Argos have £70 off a PS4. If your planning to buy one for a Christmas present, you might do well to hang on a little longer, and wait until black Friday or cyber Monday deals, later this month.

I came across this "Mad Cyril"

Don't know if it helps you or not? But about that whole "Black Fiday" thing.....

Curry's have knocked off a £178 saving from a "PS4 PRO" bundle with 3 decent games thrown in. (Probably more for your liking, rather than the kids though)... Also, one of your favourites that is the new Gran Turismo is one of them included in the deal . .... It's just not about the kids right?!?

But it's still a tad under £300. The deal doesn't look to shabby to be fair, considering the other free games that come with the package are the new "Call of duty WW11" & "Fallout 4"....Add to that most PS4 games are around £35 - £50 each.
