Rebuilding the squad

Rebuilding the squad has many implications, none more important than the fact that we've got no songs for any of the players. Even Granty, the one surviving first team player never had a proper song, despite being one of our best players.

I therefore urge all SZ members to come up with an ORIGINAL chant for our new players (and Grant). By original, I mean not one adopted from another club. Anyone knowingly ripping off other clubs' chants will be red-repped, but anyone adding to the Southend songbook, which currently as empty as our bank account, will be richly rewarded via the power of green rep.

For example, I think we should reword the Clash's I Fought the Law, to honour new striker, with disciplinary problem, Barry Corr. Thus opposing central defenders tangling with our new hero could be serenaded with "You fought the Corr, but the Corr won".

Ideas gentlemen* please.

*And ladies, SZ is an equal opportunity messageboard.

To the tune of "Dawning of the Age of Aquarius" from Hair:

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then Sturrock will guide the players
And Tommy will coach our stars

This is the dawning of the age of The Shrimpers,
The age of The Shrimpers
The Shrimpers!
The Shrimpers!

e-Harmony and understanding
Wages and Trust abounding
No more falsehoods or desertions
Viable living no fan's divisions
Enjoying player's celebrations
And the Club's true liberation
The Shrimpers!
The Shrimpers!

This is the dawning of the age of The Shrimpers,
The age of The Shrimpers
The Shrimpers!
The Shrimpers!

Good work ACU, although I don't think this one will quite catch on. Can I suggest one minor change: can you make it e-Harmony in the second verse, in honour of Groyney's thread.

Roots hall, roots hall. sing up.
Roots hall, roots hall. sing up.
At the back and at the front,
We know ron martin's a ****
So roots hall, roots hall. sing up.

(not player specific...but drunk and sounds good in my head)

Easton, easton, captain easton.
He may be scottish born and bred, but he's our number one.
Easton, easton, captain easton.
And craig you can do no wrong.

(to: Outkast, hey ya) - (Note: andre3000 was singer in outkast and grant looks like him)
Hey grant, hey grant (repeat)

There was a song sung for Anthony Grant a couple of seasons back (think it might have been Oldham away). To the tune of Cristiano Ronaldo's song at Man Utd:

Anthony Grant

It's Anthony Graaaaaaaaant

He'll lead us to victory

Anthony Grant.

To the tune of 'That's Amore'

When the ball hits the goal its not Granty or Hall (Ryan) it's Zaboubie (Sofiene)...

In tribute to our hardmen:

To the tune of "Deck the halls"

Kicks by Halls and fouls by Granty
Fa la la la laaa, la la la la

It's the season to be dirty
Fa la la la laaa, la la la la

Barry Corr will smack you also
Fa la la la laaa, la la la la

Herd will throw a ball right at you
Fa la la la laaa, la la la la

JFC gonna get an-gr-ryyy
Fa la la la laaa, la la la la

Why is this song so christmassy?
Fa la la la laaa, la la la la

etc etc etc....

We don't get no ref decisions
We don't get no even calls
No dark sarcasm on the terrace
Defender leave our kids alone
Hey, defender leave our kids alone
All in all, you're just another kickin' Ryan Hall
All in all, you're just another kickin' Ryan Hall

Shes an Easton lover
she'll have a hold on him believe me
she's like no other
before you know it he'll be on his knees

I think this has real potential. I'd suggest changing the words to

We're all Easton lovers
He's got a hold on us believe me
He's like no other
Before you know it we'll be on our knees

At which point we drop to our knees and start doing the we're not worthy, ayatollah style bowing.

That song is now more famous for being adapted for Zamora than the original song was. That is therefore a huge fail on the originality front.

That's more like it, although I sense you were running out of players at the end.

I'm not going tonight, but can a few of you get these going, ta.

I was running out of players after the first line!
