If I was to (hypothetically) want to record a show that I can listen to on the radio (like in the old days of tapes) what would be good and free to use?

I believe Canvey Shrimper has one of these you can use.

He has recently even installed his latest home entertainment system.

does the old windows sound recorder not work on your computer?

I know it varies from soundcard to soundcard, but if your one doesnt support it you can buy a soundcard that would record output for about £10.

The 9th one down for example http://www.autdirect.co.uk/acatalog/AUTDirect_co_uk_Sound_Cards_10.html

The only problem with Windows sound recorder is that it only initially has a 60 second limit. What you have to end up doing is sitting there making a file for as long as you want by clicking record every minute. After that you can just re-use that file for as long as it is (if that makes sence!)

it says you can download it???

I second audacity, use it myself for recording sets, you can save files as mp3 or uncompressed if you prefer.
top tip - turn off msn messenger :)
