If we are so skint - why did we even bother bringing Stan in? Assuming he's on a salary that would pay for at least one player, likely more. Bringing in a Football Strategist who has no resources to strategise with... what's the point. Absolutely not blaming Stan, either... but the gap between his original post on this thread and the reality is pretty alarming.

It actually feels worse, as I'm sure some of the relationships Stan has spoken about with larger clubs - would enable us to bring in youngsters (who would be certainly better than we currently have) - and wouldn't cost us anything?

I suspect, as has been the case for countless years and for many, many chief executives, players and managers down the line, Tom was lied to about what the situation was like financially.

Exactly this..... the only way to change the overall direction of the football club is change of ownership! I'm sure swindon and Grimsby fans are missing there previous owner.
But, how do we change ownership? Sell the club? Sell what and to whom?

No - can't blame Stan for lack of hot showers- that would come under the remit of Tom wouldn't it. It seems odd that a bloke with solid reputation can't resolve an issue like that pretty quickly doesn't it? Perhaps he, and Stan and John all have their hands tied behind their backs financially?

Lawyers needed to investigate and defend serious fraud cases are very expensive and will have to spend a lot of time doing their job......
Different type of lawyer needed to Tom Lawrence though.

Of course - sorry for confusion - I wasn't making link between Tom's qualifications and lawyer fee's. Unfortunately (for Ron and therefore probably SUFC) the lawyers needed to defend a tax fraud case are highly specialised and will also be supported but also very expensive accountancy experts. To defend himself in that case will be very expensive and whilst the court case(s) won't be for a while the lawyers will be working, earning and charging now - that's a bill he won't want to be late paying.

I would suspect Ron will be looking to ensure his priority is ensuring he can pay his legal team right now rather than anything else

All I'm saying is if you want serious change...... the only way you get that is change of ownership. Under Ron ownership sufc will continue to be seen as joke club.

If, as seems likely, our leader (and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) are unable/unwilling to continue funding the club, then we most hope that Tom, Stan etc., are working flat out to try to come up with a plan which enables us to survive.

Whilst I’m sure it will be expensive the other factor is time and this will have hoovered up huge amounts of Ron’s time. The case won’t be new and will have been going on for some time before it got as far as court. It will certain have distracted Ron from running the club and is likely to be a major contributory factor in many of our problems. Thankfully we at least now have a CEO to pick up some of that slack.

Haven't the national league got the power to chuck clubs out the league due to financial issues?

Perhaps you would care to define 'in hand'. In my dictionary it means 'receiving or requiring immediate attention' or 'ready for use if required'. More than three weeks on, those words, like many other extravagant and boastful comments, have a hollow ring.
Hehe.

I think the embargo leading from HMRC is inevitable no matter what league you are in to be fair.

"It seems" was a sarcastic turn of phrase. Imagine me saying it whilst rolling my eyes. I try to use softer language when hinting at what I know, because I watch watch many people on here with IKR knowledge get hounded. But sorry to burst your bubble.....on this one, I know!
I am getting confused who is in the know and who isn't. It's all mixed messages

When we do eventually see some players incoming, whenever that is, hopefully they will be players on an upward curve in their career, as opposed to all in the twilight stages of their careers.

Obviously a balance is good, but not turning the team into Dads Army again.

Messi is on the downward spiral, I would sign him if he was available for a grand a week.? . Then I wake up and reality kicks in, sorry folks just bored.

It's not funny though mate, we did hope to see some sort of improvement.
If though the staffs hands are tied as there just is no money about for improvements, there is nothing they can do and it is no fault of theirs. RM is at fault if you are looking for someone to blame. You can have 50 players lined up but if you can't pay for them it's like ****ing in the wind.
