Remembering and paying respects - The Battle of the Somme Centenary

Lots of schools do trips to the battlefields, once visited never forgotten.
The military also do visits with recruits for same reason.

They shall grow not old
As we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condem
But, at the going down of the sun
And in the morning
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM..........

Looking at my poppies in the garden at the moment
RIP all true heros

I'm a little bit shocked and just as guilty of not contributing to this thread. To those that gave up their lives and freedom for mine, I thank and honour you.

I urge people to read up on the Somme. Blackadder Goes Forth sums it up in a comic way (pure genius) but what actually happened in the trenches and across no mans land is a shocking read.
