After getting a call at around 5.00pm last night i accepted the invitation to take part in my 2nd game of the season. We arrived at the arena at about 10.30 ,giving us plenty of time to get changed ,with plenty of dressing room joviality and banter.
leaving the dressing room we were greeted by the sight of the zamboni putting the finnishing touches to the ice.
The game started at a frantic pace with plenty of action as both teams got heavily involved in puck chasing, with plenty of early shots on both goals and some dubious offside decisions.Puck handling was at a maximum as the youngsters among us had a chance to shine with their speed and ability. At approximately the 5 minute mark the score was broken as our right winger crossed the blue line at speed went round the defender and went top shelf on the statue like keeper.
After that goals were exchanged with great frequency until half way through and the score tied at 5-5 a young lad form Leigh-on-sea planted at the front of the crease picked up a loose puck and slid it 5 hole on the keeper for his first goal of the year.this brought rapturous applause from the old boy who sweeps the floor.
With time now running out and exhaustion setting in it became a goaltending show with the rookie on the lights outshining his counterpart on the darks.

final score        lights 8-darks 9
so with my 2nd game of the season comes my first goal and my first win, as i was the stay at home defenceman for half the game and the storming right winger for the other half.
