I'm taking the Mrs out to the casino on friday to show off my James Bond moves and thought I'd treat her to a swanky meal. Does anyone know what the best restaurants in Southend are these days? I've heard rumblings about a place called 'San fairie Ann' but want some options. Any advice would be appreciated.

I thought you said that you were showing off your "James Bond movies" at first. I thought that was a strange thing to show off.

What sort of food?

Im a breast man so it has to be KFC then down to the crooked house at peter pans for a finger, thats if its still there that is.
San f anns used to be in thrope bay and was a bit up its own bum, heard bad things a few years ago but i havnt lived in town for years.
Our fav was the french place down alex street i think it was.

Picalo's is above the arches. Is a nice italian and is not too pricey but pricey enough. Tolouse restaruant along the front from chalkwell station is supposed to be nice.

The casino actually does really nice food .

depending on which Casino you're going to, they actually do quite nice food themselves!

Aside from that, if you're on the sea-front, i hear very good things about Sands and Toulouse.

If you want Chinese, i would go for the Great Wall along the seafront a bit more towards Thorpe Bay... book early tho as they only have about 8 tables, well worth it tho!

Went the rococo in leigh like 7 years ago and it was decent . Bit of a slap from westcliff casino though

Sands, the seafood place by the Pier, was pretty nice the one time I went there. They do a good steak if you're not sold on the fish.

What about Paparazzi down Hamlet Court Rd....never been myself but heard good thinsg bout place and from look of it, very glam! glam!, providing there isn't private function on...

Gulshan down Sutton Road if you like Indian, not great looking Restaurant but fabulous food at great price!

Have the meal in the Casino. Have been several times to the casino and the food is well worth the money
