Apologies - but is today not a really important day for the club? I may be completely wrong and cant find any info on it but I thought the variations to the planning approval were being heard today by the council and if given the go ahead it moves us a step closer to realising the dream.

Anyone have any proper info on this?

Thanks in advance

From Southend Council website.

Development Control Committee

Development Control Committee Date Time Location Type
(Meeting Link: 38) Wednesday, 7th October, 2009 2.00pm Civic Suite, Civic Centre, Southend-on-Sea Agenda

I will try to find more details.

A quote from Ron.

"in fact we are in the final stages of negotiation with the contractor (I had two 3 hour sessions last week) and the final plank in the planning is expected to go to committee on Oct 7th. This follows the councils resolution on the 23rd April agreeing the sale of their feeholds and use of CPO powers. "

I can only assume it is still going ahead today.

Well reminded brian .. today is (or could be) indeed a pivotal moment

COME YOU COUNCIL, DO YOUR DUTY FOR THE CLUB AND TOWN !!!

So for us thickos what does todays meeting mean?

Its to rubber stamp the "change of use" licence which will allow us to include the casino and supermarket amongst the retail aspect

I'm led to believe a positive outcome will lead to diggers being onsite before the year is out .. a negative outcome will mean ... actually we cannot even begin to think what a no vote would mean :'(

Any news yet? Must be some insiders at the council chambers ...

No its not, that is the end of this month.

But today determines if we have the dosh to pay in a few weeks time ... So I guess indirectly, we will know if Friday is our last home match :'(

I'm sure Scriv's will put a report up on the OS, as soon as he locates the laptop power cable and Wi-Fi hotspot!...
