Hill Street Blues, the most iconic show of its generation, the first series to feature hand held cameras and to run several storylines at the same time. With charachters ranging from the super smooth to the barking mad, it was a hotch potch of creativity and raw emotion. Still being shown on British television for those of you who have not seen it.
Lets be careful out there

Tour of Duty was screened post Platoon and before other fine Vietnam films such as Full Metal Jacket & Hamburger Hill. It ran for almost 4 years.

See Wiki for further info.

As with most US series the score was excellent and IMO evoked the period very well. It was shown in the UK but suffered from bizarre scheduling when it would be screened around 1am on a Saturday morning. I deal fare if you had staggered in from the pub with a belly full of beer and a face full of doner kebab.

Tour of Duty was essential late Friday night viewing!

Tour of Duty was screened post Platoon and before other fine Vietnam films such as Full Metal Jacket.
FMJ was 1987 so was around the same time. Worth noting that they both used Paint it Black in the titles.
