Ron...The worst gambler in town.... Success or failure?

I fully forgive those not involved in 'Financial Services' not knowing what the economic climate was like after Autumn 2008 and to be honest for several years afterwards. Lending to small Businesses dried up, unless it was fully secured or to low/medium risk Companies (which football clubs are not!)

Your right but it gets you no where on FF threads. Those that hate Ron also conveniently forget that Sainsburys had a deliberate delaying tactic over several years and eventually pulled out.

Had the financial collapse not occurred, barring the council still blocking the stadium, we would have been in the new stadium a few years now

Quite possibly but at the time we were still expecting Sainsburys to be part of it.

The question should be why cant the council treat the biggest development in the Towns history as a separate application. All the answers they want, like roads access or is there a rare form of clover growing at FF should have been sorted years ago

Exactly, which is the gist behind my post #73

Look like the Tories Southend council is fcuked, as some have lost their seats, possibly for the failure of getting on with the new stadium!

Southend public embracing socialism. Publicly owned stadium, safe standing, cheapest prices in the EFL. Great local beer in the bars.

It looks to me that the council sees the new stadium as too much competition for their ideas of new development along the seafront. With the high street in permanent decline another shopping centre at Fossetts Farm might be a step too far but they will not admit it while they have our money to throw around. If they were serious about the relocation from Roots Hall surely it would have happened by now? Move to Basildon is my preference and sod the council.

You are Vic Jobson resurrected and I claim my £5

I like him and am very thankful for all his investment and pray that one day it is all realised for everyone involved. ( yes I’m Ron Martin and you can all claim your £5 off a season ticket at the new stadium Mwhahahaha)

He has been chairman of a professional club for 20 years! Would say that is enough to call him a football man

Again, for the umpteenth time of mentioning, over the last decade, Ron has admitted himself, that he never had never previously had any interest in football, until he took over the club.

I’ve always questioned. why would a man who has no interest in football, want to own a football club? Especially a football club that doesn’t make money...

I see the 'haters' are out on here and the 'paid late' thread. What're you going to do if we lose this afternoon chaps?

Because it was always about what he would be able to make out of it eventually, he just never envisaged having to put the kind of money in that he has or the time that it's taking. Over that time, he has fallen in love with the club and I don't think anyone should doubt he is a football man and not just a business man.

Just wondering where the 6m came from.
A quick look at SEL and RHL latest accounts don’t show a reduction in their assets (ie debt from SUFC) could be MD.
Could this be the write off of the Loan by Sainsbury , as they terminated the agreement, meaning that the company had assets (the loan to SUFC) now outweighing their liabilities , so wrote off the SUFC loan ?

Marin Dawn, however had a turnover of just 700k but reduced their debtors from 26 m to 15m (7m cleared of loans and 4m “spent” from cash at bank)
Their liabilities appear to have reduced by a similar amount

15 million ? That's quite a lot to owe. Who are the creditors?

Surely creditors are liabilities ?
