Rooney v Charlton

Whenever I have one of the pointless "World XI to play Mars" conversations, I always put Greaves in. You're right, a fantastic player who gave us a lot of publicity - all be it because his son was here as player/coach a while back.

I know Danny well, played for the same club as his son and nephews for years. He has some great stories from when he was youth coach, some unbelievable ones about a certain Mr Fry!

My dad's mate Phil Beal played with JG...he insists the greatest forward of all time !

I've heard it a lot from a lot of players. I know some members of the family are very disappointed by the lack of recognition he gets, particularly in the honours lists not as much as an MBE when you'd expect a guy with his achievements to be a knight. It would apparently mean a lot to him as well.

Last time I saw Mr Beal was some time ago(10 years possibly)he was in fine form at my parents barbie telling old football stories....Some of the players including JG would go into the local pub after games....JG was the highest paid at Tottenham on 250 quid per week during one season,250 a week, crazy stuff.

Mr Beal told us his transfer fee to Spurs was a tenner:stunned: a tenner is mental.
