Have been bought out by the class of 92, the United legends.

Wonder how long before Salford end up in league two?

I doubt they are doing it purely for a cash enrichment investment, and I hope they are going to bring through local young players/developing talent for the future. Well done lads.

That seems to be their main goal if you read through their comments. I think it's great and will look out to see how they are getting on.

Beckham is not involved. He'd rather spend his money in the US. Perhaps that halo isn't so perfect eh?

Eh? Because Beckham hasn't done enough for English football in his time? From what I gather Beckham's spending very little in comparison to what various other backers are in Miami as they all clamour to ride on the coat tails of Brand Becks. It's not as if he hasn't already ploughed a fair chunk of cash into providing football facilities across the UK...

Reading the Salford City news it looks as if the United lot aren't going to be lavishing money at the project, there'll be no name change, new stadium or new management team. The suggestion is that they're looking to profit from the club's links to youth football in the Manchester area (not financially, it has to be said) and this is something of a move to counter City's growing reach. It'll certainly be interesting if that rumoured bid for United from Qatar does come in and is successful...

MK as you cited Mr Beckham and his overseas investments ( let's be honest, he can spend his money where he likes) us Brits should only buy goods made in Britain and not go abroad spending money on holidays --- it aint gonna work !

I would take a stab in the dark and say Beckham got paid more money while in the states then his time in the prem.

Im gutted the ground in Miami wasnt thought of and build before the two england games as it looks amazing

Whats funny is on Sky News yesterday morning they were talking about this, but they thought the club they were buying was Manchester United and discussing what the Glaziers would think.

Bit wide of the mark there!

It is a bit off thread, but if Becks makes money in Miami then he will be taking the profit out of the SA similar to what the Glaziers have done with the £600+ million they have taken from the united deal.

I see the first player from Salford City has signed for United's youth set up. Good to see the class of 92 minus Becks are having a positive impact on the club and helping young players make the step up.

Although he had been at the club for around a month. Got released by Man City in the summer, signed for Salford in December and made his debut earlier this month.

And 4 years after they bought the club they’ve just won the Conference North and will be in the Conference next season. Seems like they’ve been run very well rather than the shower of **** that is Billericay.

Their managers have left... not sure why.

After gaining three promotions in just four seasons would suggest a heavy influx of dosh helped the cause. Very strange the decision on the management duo, not as though they could have achieved any more than they have and the club’s comments on the parting are stranger still.

Apparently both wanted the same wages as managers anywhere else at that level and the club didn’t want to pay 2 men to do 1 job effectively.

They don't pay ridiculous wages, pretty much on par with what league they are in (obviously the higher end). When I was in out in Perth 2010-2012 Chris Lynch, Salford's captain from 2015-17 was playing in the state league and all of us "Poms" socialised and went out and I'm still mates with him on facebook. Spoke to him around the time of their FA cup exploits to say good luck etc and he said they weren't highly paid and most of them did it to be a part of something special and a couple for the TV cameras.

You don’t race up thru 3 leagues without considerable investment notably in players and wages, plus their stadium has undergone a major transformation in recent seasons. Unless he knows the pay of each of the SCFC squad I’d take his comments with slight pinch of the proverbial .It’s was widely known that several clubs at the top end of a Conf North had substantial wage bills, and in excess of what was being paid at top clubs in Conf South....

Graham Alexander appointed manager with Chris Lucketti as assistant.

I'm not suggesting they aren't paying at the higher end of the league they were in but they are much more conservative than Billericay, who were laying out more than league two clubs on wage budget
