Lee Boylan is 32 now and been prolific but in Conference (Canvey). If he is match fit might do a short term job- trust PS to know best on that

Sam Higgins one for the future and the type we should take a punt on? Just back playing for Chelmsford after an op in the summer- from their game vs CU

Striker Sam Higgins made his first appearance in a Chelmsford City shirt in a slender defeat to a strong Colchester United team at Melbourne in what Head Coach Glenn Pennyfather described as one of the highlights of the evening, Kayode Odejayi’s scrambled goal proving all that separated the sides.

Higgins, a young prospect who bagged over 30 strikes for East Thurrock United last season, has been recuperating from an operation over the summer and he played roughly an hour on his return as the Clarets performed admirably against a U’s side which mostly consisted of players with First Team experience. Pennyfather welcomed Higgins to the fold and reinforced that, with time, he could be the provider of many goals.

Apparently Sam Higgins was with us as a youth player. Looking at the quote on the page, he is "hard-working" and with good "link-up play" ..... another striker who can link up the play but not score himself? Hopefully not. Although he has scored 36 for East Thurrock 2 seasons ago, he is making a big jump up from that level.

16 goals in 27 games for Chelmsford, so that may be a bit harsh!

Just being pessimistic, would hate to see people expect too much of him so early on and get on his back when he doesn't score in his first couple of games. Hopefully he will impress.

People had low expectations of Blair Sturrock and then got on his back despite a debut goal. We don't discriminate.

One of the comments :

The goals went dry. He's a lazy forward who can get a goal out of nothing but if your that type of player and your not scoring regularly then your not going to get in the team. Lots of potential but no ambition. He will resign for east thurrok who he didn't want to leave in the first place.

Sounds like he didn't have the "hunger" to play at the BSS level. http://www.chelmsfordcityfootballclub.co.uk/news/1102/clarets-say-goodbye-striker-sam-higgins
