Our referee on Tuesday should be Kevin Wright from Cambridgeshire. His last Southend appointment was last year's Good Friday game when he was a "no show" through injury. In fact he missed virtually all of last season through injury but seems to be up and running okay this season.

This will be his 5th Southend League match, all previously at home (3 wins and a draw so far) but he blotted his copybook by also doing the cup defeat at home to MK Dons. He has not refereed Southend away in any competition hitherto.

This will be his 8th match of his 6th season as a League referee (14 yellows, 2reds so far) and all his appointments this season have been Championship or League One which means he is quite highly rated.

Does not skimp on his cards but is generally a fair official who likes to keep the game flowing if given a chance. In fact, he sent a Yeovil player off on Saturday so hopefully he will have got that out of his system for Tuesday.

His debut League match was actually at Roots Hall for the victory over Cheltenham at the start of the 03/04 season and the pick of his other matches was our 1-0 win over Forest a couple of years back.

His assistants will be Paul Davison from Cleveland and Bob Madley from West Yorkshire. Mr S. Ross from Lincolnshire is 4th Official.

Elsewhere both Singh and Kettle are assigned to the nether regions of the Football League at Barnet and Brentford, respectively.
