September Fixtures 2024

Rattus Norvegicus

Dullard ①
Here we are - seven games into the season & time to look at the table & the team.

2 wins (at home), 4 draws & one loss - 13th position - I make that a mid-table position for an average start (that's not a criticism but a description).

After an entertaining win on Tuesday night, we now have games coming thick & fast.

Tues 10th - Eastleigh [2nd] (home) - 3 points
Sat 14th - Sutton [17th] (home) - lost 3-1
Tues 17th - Flyde [22nd] (away) - lost 2-1
Sat 21st - Solihill Moors [12th] (away) - won 4-2
Tues 24th - Wealdstone [21st] (away)
Sat 28th - Mighty Gateshead [top & unbeaten] (home)

As for the team - well, still building & getting going perhaps?

We have scored 9 goals - not enough for a tilt at the play-offs or promotion at the moment.

And given the turmoil that we have all been through I am quite pleased with where we are - although views from Shrimperzone range from "we are lucky to have a club & playing at all" at one end of the spectrum through to "we should be beating all these tin-pot clubs" at the other end.

We have scored 6 goals (less than 1 per game) - not enough for a tilt at the play-offs or promotion at the moment.

Don’t know how you arrived at 6 goals. We have scored 9 so far in our 7 league games.

I must admit to harbouring thoughts of getting through September unbeaten. Wildly optimistic in hindsight.

6 points from 4 games so far with 2 more matches to go.

We have had a stupidly tough start fixture wise and assuming no major changes we would of played 12 games by the end of September and have played 8 against teams in the top half and only 4 of those against teams in the bottom half, including 3 of the current top 4 and possibly 6 of the top 8 after Gateshead.

Also 3 of those 4 against bottom half sides were away from home. Granted this means we will have more tough away fixtures to come against top sides, but on the flip side many more winnable games at home against poorer sides.

A big if, I know, but if we can pick up a win or even 4 points from the next two, we should be hovering around the play offs and with that sort of fixture list, and considering what has been going on in the last couple of weeks, that isn't bad!

Or we could lose both and be near the bottom four haha

Is it not a bit early to be splitting the difficulty of games between top and bottom half sides? There are 3 points between 8th and 16th.
