He took over when most of mangers didn’t fancied a short term deal .... keep us in League 1, the job is your, as they feared they will be turfed out if they failed to keep us up.

Bond did his job, let give him an chances.

For me...give him the job.

He seems to have got a good grip on the squad. Kiernan in CM was a masterstroke - needed consistency in there and someone to protext our fragile defence and hes given that.

The set peice routines have been much better. More importantly, every player has known there roles.

Given a pre season and some ins and outs theres no reason not to feel optimistic!

On balance, Bond deserves to be given the role. He has kept us up but most importantly has seen all of the squad in action apart from the long term injuries. This puts him in a better position than someone coming in in pre season.

He has got the absolute maximum out of a beleaguered side.

He deserves an opportunity.

Let's not forget we were also seconds away from beating both Blackpool and Walsall.

I'm sure there will be a clear out in the summer but for now let's just enjoy still being a league 1 side.

It's a tough one. On the face of it, he did come in and keep us up, which was his remit. On the other hand, over the coming weeks we are in a position to speak to lots of currently out of work managers, some of which have greater managerial reputations and achievements than KB.

I think on balance, it is difficult not to give him the opportunity. As many of said, his reputation as a coach is very good. It's hard to judge him on his time at Bournemouth, despite getting them relegated he was dealing with a 27 point deduction spread over two seasons, and the club were at their absolute lowest at that point.

The team looked organised yesterday: everyone had a job and did it well, which didn't always seem to be the case this season. I don't think putting Kiernan into midfield was an obvious thing to do, as I recall the surprise and lack of enthusiasm on Twitter from many fans when it was first done.

Whatever we end up doing, if we don't have a good start to next season then it will always be a case of "what if". It's all a gamble really, but at least we (and Ron) know what KB is about now.

Apparently, it's the position he started out playing in!

It’s a difficult one for me. How do you tell the bloke who kept up despite relegation looking like a sure thing? I was sceptical about his appointment, I thought it was a cheap for Ron with nothing really to lose from it. I as I’m sure all of you will be forever grateful to Mr Bond for his work over the last weeks. A large part of my thinking is of course he should be rewarded with the job for next season if he wants it. He is a well travelled coach who will have plenty of ties he can call upon (his relationship with Eddie Howe for example could benefit us if Bournemouth have any decent youngsters in need of first team football). He has earned the opportunity to have a summer to improve on the squad and see where he can take us.

The other part of me thinks if someone like Paul Hurst is interested then we have to get him in. What he did at Shrewsbury season before last with such a small budget was nothing short of outstanding, falling only at the final hurdle. His time at Ipswich is a spell he’ll want to forget but I don’t put all that went wrong there down to him as I’m sure most Ipswich fans wouldn’t if you asked them. Following that sacking he will have a point to prove. Why not come here, have a bigger budget than what he had at Shrews, in a league that he knows and has done well in and see where he can take us. Some of the football he had Shrews playing was wonderful mixed with a right **** house mentality that made them an absolute nightmare to play against.

I’m really torn between the two. Thankfully it’s not a decision I have to make but it is one that should be made sooner rather than later so going in to pre season we can hit the ground running.

I did hear that, many years ago though! I'm not sure he's played in midfield for a good number of years. On paper, I'd make him the best CB at the club, and if it were me in charge I'd have had him playing in his more regular position, so I'd still give credit where it's due to Bond!

Bond has done a fantastic job. No question. He is a very strong contender but it comes to down to his plans for recruitment over the summer. His vision must be allied to our financial realities. A "tight budget" specialist manager might suit us better going forward.

Chris Powell was the manager when we played Blackpool. If it wasn’t for those few seconds he’d probably still be here.

It's a yes from me. 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats from his six games, so mid table form. Considering we were bottom of the form table when he took over, that's more than enough to deserve a chance IMO.

A difficult decision for Ron lies ahead. Kevin Bond has an excellent reputation as a coach but not a lot of experience as a Number 1. Two key things are important for me if Bond is to be appointed: 1) he needs to have a clear idea of who needs to come in to take us to a position where we can realistically challenge for promotion to the Championship within 2 years; and 2) the right choice for his Number 2 is crucial.

Next season may be about consolidation, not least because a number of players who do not figure in the club’s medium term future are still under contract.

Yesterday’s win opens up a whole set of possibilities for our club if the right decisions are made now. If Bond has the vision and plan that Ron believes will deliver promotion to the Championship, say within 3 years, I would like to see Maher as his second so that between them they can develop a pattern of constructive, passing-based football (our footballing DNA) with a view to Maher succeeding Bond in maybe 3-5 years. A clear footballing plan, recruiting the right players to deliver it and setting up a succession plan could take us where we would all like the club to go.

He had the guts to take on a difficult task and whilst I was appalled by everything v Wycombe and seriously questionned the tactics and set up v Rochdale, by keeping us out of L2 IMHO he has earned the right to a permenant deal. Because of his upbringing he is football man through and through and will undoubtably have very decent contacts that we could benefit from in the close season. UTS

Interesting innit .
Ron has pulled it off.For those of us who witnessed some of the dire performances especially at home there won’t be many that thought we could realistically turn it around and avoid the drop.
But Ron called it right made the appointment and his bet paid off.
Whatever happens surely nothing could be worse than some of the stuff we had put I in front of us this season .? Can it?
My view is that KB should get the chance to carry on and if next season turns sour then we make a change by Christmas. For the moment lets just exhale and relax???

With all the people in favour presumably there will be no complaints if we line up with one up front, two defensive holding midfielders and/or 5 at the back next season. Bond has shown defensive is his goto when he needs results.

As much as I don’t wish to **** on anyone’s chips in the afterglow of yesterday , and the fact that Bond did what he was brought in to do , I see him as one who will set us up not to lose etc.
I think we will do ok under him , but reading forums at his previous clubs , I don’t think we will play the type of football that will excite.
Now I know it is a results based industry and we all ultimately want SUFC to win , but for me , I like to escape for a couple of hours on match day and be entertained and I don’t get that feel from him.
That said , I think he will be appointed and I will give him my support

Can't remember if it was on here or another thread, but someone mentioned Bond's calm demeanour needing someone with a bit of fire as his assistant. Where would people stand on Joe Jordan coming in? They've worked together extensively throughout their careers with 'Arry.

One up front? Bond has played Bunn and Cox in a front two 4/6 games and Cox and Humphrys 1/6. The only game we played one up front under Bond was yesterday, were you not happy with how we approached the game yesterday? It wasn't defensive at all.

I don't understand what the problem with 5 at the back is, it's been very effective in recent weeks. He played 4 at the back against Wycombe and that was our worst game under him (or at least equal worst with Rochdale). In terms of personnel the only real mistake he made was dropping Dru and Hart at Rochdale.

It's worth remembering that he's been very limited in the choices he could make, our wingers aren't very good and he's only had one fully fit striker the whole time he's been here.
