imo no....HRH was an avid sportsman and enjoyed a physical side of life and remained active for as long as he possibly could. In the same manner that he would not want people to go overboard about his sacrifices and achievements, which is well documented, he also wouldn't, I believe want all sporting events cancelled down to him or his passing.

Minutes silences/applause as a matter of respect for him and his passing is pitch perfect for this dedicated individual.
