Shrimpers to sign six new players

Shrimpers could sign six! Wed, May 17 2006 19:25
Assistant boss Paul Brush has revealed the club's intentions to make a 'statement' in the Championship by signing quality new players.
After securing back-to-back promotions, the Shrimpers want their Championship rivals to be aware of the threat posed from Roots Hall. Brush told the club's official site: "We have come into the Championship to have a go at it, not just to make the numbers up." He also added that Steve Tilson's side is looking to get new players in order to 'make a statement' of intent to other clubs: "We want to make a statement by getting some new faces in early on."
The club's ambition has been emphasised by recent contract extensions given to current players Darryl Flahavan and Luke Gutteridge and the club have also offered new deals to their out-of-contract players. Brush also revealed that the club have interest in at least half a dozen signings.

"We have six players on our first sheet of targets which is with the Chairman at the moment, there is a back up list as well but hopefully it won't come to that," he added.
