Those of us thinking a new broom was needed will be sorely disappointed that this opportunity has been missed, but I wish him all the best.

My sources tell me he has some very different ideas to Grayson and that the delay was because the club were aware how terrible it would look appointing another internal candidate but he was the most impressive.

We shall see. Hopefully he will be the breath of fresh air that Essex CCC needs and he will properly shake things up. The players all seem happy that he's been appointed but Mandy Rice-Davies.
 
Best of luck to him; reaction from Essex fans on Twitter seemed pretty muted, but I guess we shall have to wait and see.
