Sol Campbell appears to be continuing his trend of not being able to say or do anything without bringing race into it. What a shocker.

Not sure I like the sound of 'Operation Black Vote', seems to be promoting an us and them mentality. Does it really matter that 51 percent of black voters turned out in relation to the 67 percent of white voters? Should we not be seeing people as people, regardless of race?

Make it compulsory to vote.
Don't often agree with your views H. But totally with you on this, even have a box on voting papers with non above, at least you have voted in a protest vote
Those that argue it's too much of a waste to walk to a polling booth, vote postal simples

says a lot that people can get angry about this.

I don't consider myself to be a racist, but double standards do annoy me. I've seen one or two of these "black people only" organizations, yet anyone who creates a "white only" organization is shot. Either we have equality for all, or exclusions are allowed.

I've seen white people be racially abused by black people in the past and no one bats an eyelid.....yet the other way round and it's being shared on Facebook as some kind of "Wanted" poster.

are we past "skin colour" or not?

I read the article after I posted (as was on the train). I clearly misinterpreted the OP.....Nothing like a good ol' knee jerk reaction.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

If it encourages people to vote, why is this seen as a bad thing?

This.

There's a lot of things to lay into Sol Campbell about, but urging more of the general population to vote isn't one of them. It's not racist either, for **** sake.

OBL summed it up for me. Encourage everyone in general to vote. I just think bringing race into it is completely unnecessary.

Interestingly, they are reporting this morning that, with the onus being on individuals to register to vote rather than the "head of the house", registrations are approximately 800,000 down on last time. I don't know why they changed the system, with apathy abounding, less people were going to be bothered to, no matter how easy they made it.

Don't really see the issue here, if there's a pretty big gap between 51% of black people voting and 67% of white people voting I don't see why trying to increase the smaller turnout is a bad thing. Same with trying to increase the turnout of young voters, ideally we want everyone to vote so why not encourage the groups with the largest proportion of non voters to get involved?
