Yes it's back ! :thump: A Joint SoL / SZone production.
Coverage from Roots Hall from Groyne Strain for the Youth game against Croydon. Due to technical problems that have been repaired with the satellite connection( I turned my phone on) i can up date you from now on.

Report from Groyne;
Not the greatest of games but watchable. The Croydon keeper has made 2 fine saves. 1 from a point- blank header , the otherfrom a 1 on 1 situation. The score remains goaless.

Groyne reports:
Goaless first half. Goal was unfairly disallowed because we elbowed their keeper into the net as well as the ball.
Off the field antics, Brian Wheeler has been the butt of hoolie chants.

Half Time at The Hall
Southend United 0, Croydon 0 in the FA Youth Cup.

Groyne report;

At precisely 8.29 we all began to celebrate and do the Freddie Eastwood chant- exactly 1 year since we went 1-0 up against Manchester United.

This must have inspired Croydon as they then took the lead.

FA Youth Cup.
Southend United 0 Croydon 1

Groyne reports;

Losing 0- 1 with over an hour gone but we're showing the odd sign of coming back. One header flashed inches past the post, an 18 yard shot just went over the bar. Come on you Shrimplings

Ripping a top off another bottle and news from Roots Hall, our reporter, Groyne Strain;
Now we're cooking! on 75 minutes, a bullet 6yard header from captain Tom Hopkins. This followed an audacious 65 yard chip and a sitter missed from 12 yards.
From the Hall, it's getting better for the Shrimplings

FA Youth Cup.
Southend United 1 Croydon 1

Groyne Flash! live from the hall
Tuppy has gone mad in the stands as Rhys Henry looks like he's scored the winner for the Shrimplings against Croydon.
From Roots Hall

FA Youth Cup.
Southend United 2 : Croydon 1
Hopkins
Henry

A dramatic finish as a terrible Simon Brownesque mistake by the Croydon keeper lets in Rhys Henry. Within a minute Henry strikes again.

FA Youth Cup.
Southend United 3 : Croydon 1
Hopkins
Henry x2
89 mins played

Just to keep the theme going our next opponents in the second round at the Hall, Whyteleafe or Barnet are drawing 0-0 and the match is in extra time.

The verdict is that if the non-league team go through, then it will be a very physical game at the Hall in the next round! Oh and hoofball a plenty!!

Were programmes issued for tonight's game?

Groyne Reports that the programmes were availiable at a £1 each with some info and stats inside. A crowd of 247 were in attendance and at the Hall it finished for the Shrimplings;

FA Youth Cup.
Southend United 3 : Croydon 1
Hopkins
Henry x2

For Sol Sports, this has been a joint Sol / Zone production, till the next round, so long.

Enjyoed the game tonight, what was the left wingers name, thought he looked very decent and had very good pace.

Up the mini-shrimpers :)

well done to our young shrimplings! although they left it late, was a deserved victory and a good footballing peformance. they have barnet next round that has to be played before the 24th of this month. 244 attended last night and the atmosphere was pretty decent...lets more of us get behind them for the next round though! come on you blues!!

It's Barnet in next round, Rob.

Barnet beat Whyteleafe on pens but are bottom of the youth league Southend play in with 3 defeats from 3 according to the programme from Wednesday's game.
So good chance of progress.
