I guess they don't like our keeper too much during the penalty shoot out.......oh well never mind they can look forward to playing Orient and Poxford next season

Taken from one of their forums about our keeper

Strange how you haven't mentioned your keeper's ridiculous gamesmanship during the shootout, including being behind the goal tugging the net when the penalty taker was preparing himself. One thing to be a bad loser, but it takes a special kind of a**ehole to be a bad winner.

bearing in mind youre whole team were faking injuries and running down the clock the whole of extra time. Nice one...

Grobbelaar's "Spaghetti Legs"... Keepers using antics to try and gain a psychological advantage is as old as the game itself.

Yes time to move on and look forward to League One! I'm just glad we won otherwise no doubt some of us would be bemoaning the disallowed 'goal' and penalty that wasn't given and a Wycombe follower would be posting a similar thread on their forum.....!

There but for the grace of :pig: go we

No they are right.

How can we get the result reversed? We clearly dont deserve to have been promoted.

Who cares? It's not like Shrimperzone hasn't displayed bad loser syndrome before.

and what if I think it was Jacobson, giving large to Bentley ?. That doesn't count does it....

So funny losing a penalty shoot out in front of your own fans behind the goal.....stick that in ya pipe and smoke it:smile:

Psychology is a huge part of sport. Many a manager will have been impressed with Bentley as he showed strength and confidence throughout the shootout and the guile to get under the skin of the Wycombe players. Winning promotion to League 1 or a few friends at Wycombe? If Ingram had played we wouldn't be having this discussion but Lynch looked small and insignificant in comparison to Bentley... Bentley gave us a massive advantage and made a real difference in the shootout. His price will have risen too as a result. Sport is after all about winning at this level anyway.

Completely agree with all of this. Bentley looked like a seasoned pro during that penalty shoot out. Lynch looked what he is: a kid. In fact Bentley has looked like a seasoned pro all season, just more so at that time. It's scary to think he won't reach his peak for another 5-6 seasons...

How Wycombe can complain about anything is beyond me after all their time wasting and gamesmanship in extra time. Plus, how much luck have they enjoyed against us over the past couple of years? Off the top of my head I can remember:

1) Us absolutely pulverising them in August 13 and somehow coming away on the losing side thanks to their only two efforts on goal
2) Them scoring off Daniel Bentley's back in the home game last season.
3) Them scoring off Steven Craig's heel in the home game this season, probably the luckiest goal ever seen.
4) Us absolutely pulverising them in the home game this season and somehow only drawing thanks to a late goal
5) Them scoring off Daniel Bentley's back in extra time in the playoff final.

So quite frankly they can shove it. They would be preparing for League One now if Bloomfield had managed to not give the ball away with 30 seconds left. Perhaps they should look closer to home.

Exactly. Bentley did employ all sorts of gamesmanship and if that had been their keeper down at our end of Wembley we'd have probably had some words to say to him too, but at the end of the day Dan did everything right. He made the goal look tiny and clearly got into the heads of at least a couple of their players. Watching the shoot-out again (as I have MANY times) he could easily have saved four of the eight pens he faced.

It was a masterclass in goalkeeping in a penalty shoot-out.

But yeah again some of our fans get very precious about anything said about our club or our players. We won, who cares?

Absolutely. Bentley played like a keeper 10 years his senior. How high can he go?

Always been a good penalty stopper, always thought he would stop one or two, it was just whether we would score ours.

Dan has always been more mature than his age suggests. Nothing wrong with what he did in the shootout. Apart from looking like a little boy lost in Tesco, Lynch was off his line several times for our spot kicks.
