Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1-2 Aldershot Town

Well as so many of our squad have been injured throughout the season it's a bit difficult to be in the the know , but what we have seen is a tendency by kev to keep players on when obviously struggling.
I agree that B team games would help with match fitness and let us know players progress.
I would also remind all those who said a decent pre season, would make all difference to our players, it appears not to be the case. Probably because our squad and managers are struggling with mental exhaustion. Thanks to RM

How many of those struggling had a proper pre-season with us though?

Gus (who is flagging badly - that England C game is awful timing when he needs a rest) got injured during pre-season. Murphy and Cardwell missed it entirely. Noor was off with Afghanistan and didn’t have a break. Hyde joined after pre-season. I think they’ve been some of the main inhabitants of the physio’s room this season whilst the likes of Hobson, Kensdale (notwithstanding Saturday), Miley, Bridge and even Powell have had the best seasons of their careers.

Agree though that there has been a mental toil and confidence is back where it was the last few years.

Really I do understand the individual cases you've stated, my point Really was the over optimistic views of fans regarding the ability to improve and maintain a superior level of match fitness from a good pre-season not my view btw , PB was good at that too. lol. Most fans wouldn't know and I certainly don't know about the rest of players careers re best 3/4 of a season.
Gus was told he'd have to man up by kev after that horrendous assault (head injury), why flog the willing workhorse when there's JD, Crowhurst and Taylor as possible replacements Gus definitely needs or needed a rest.
Anyway it's all academic as they say , let's all hope for an end of season return to winning ways.

There were some real undesirables among the Aldershot fans. They were escorted out of the Railway pub along East Street and into West Street. Many of them decided to walk down the middle of the road disrupting traffic. There was loud chanting mainly including a variety of obscenities. None of this helps to attract families to football matches. Being aggressive towards a 6 year old just about sums them up.
