Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 3-1 Grimsby Town

One year as a Southed fan is like 7 years for other teams.

In the calendar year 2020 we've been relegated with our worst ever season, we suffered a pandemic, the league was curtailed early and we lost a quarter of the season. When the next season resumed games were played behind closed doors and so we missed another quarter of a season and we found ourselves bottom of the entire football league going into Christmas and under an embargo for 11 and a half months of the year. It's hard to conceive a worst calendar year... and yet as fans we've still seen us win more often than we did the previous year:Stunned:

And that was a home hat trick of wins, in front of the faithful.
A most unusual 3 on the spin, and all be it, including the "last" game of the curtailed previous season.
Lets hope fans are allowed in for the visit of the sheep botherers.

Don't you love an Echo story where that show a picture of a manager wearing the colours of a club he left in

They've stuck an alternate angle on YouTube which makes the keeper look even worse for our third goal.

Would be happy to see MM experiment with benching Acquah and then trying him as a sub in this line up but don't get all the hate going his way. Young lad finding his way who has been far from awful, he can only improve with playing minutes.

Really what does he bring to the side? Pace? No skill? No dribbling? No passing? No.Effort yes.Sorry to burst your bubble but the guy shouldn't be anywhere near a football pitch, how on earth he ever made it as a pro is beyond me.Dont you think hes already played enough minutes already and had more then enough game time to prove his worth? Thankgod mm subbed him at half time.We have much better players now so the less minutes he gets the better! I'm sure hes a nice guy but hes not very good at football. And sterling is not too far behind him!!

Great to have seen 2 wins in 4 days at the Hall. Players & Staff look so much more together now than the head down bunch earlier on in the season trudging onto the pitch expecting the usual defeat. Such a shame after having connected again to go back to ifollow.
How nice to have options on team selection and not be so easy to pick the team now and when all are fit. First half was wake up call after we scored and thankfully MM reacted to it, because we was getting bossed. Exuberance of Akinola & Egbri and then experience of Macca & Halford completely changed the game in our favour. UTB

We won't get luck like that every week, but hopefully we're starting to even out all the bad luck we had earlier in the season.
And last, remember thinking that Lady Luck left us around the same time Chris Powell started his season in charge.

Great view of the 1st goal.
Clifford's went through their number 6's legs
Halford's went through their 'keeper's legs (because it hit the mud and didn't bounce)

We won't get luck like that every week, but hopefully we're starting to even out all the bad luck we had earlier in the season.
I feel it's one of those gary player golf sayings type things. 'the more you practice the luckier you get'
in our case..... The more crosses and shots you have a go at, the more chance of nicking a deflected goal or through the legs.
We're making our own luck maybe.

AS i said a bit of effort would be good, it doesn't matter what his age is, all we expect is the player to give their all and he clearly never has.
If you knew anything about the player himself and the attitude and effort he has put in to become a professional footballer you would realise how wide of the mark your comments are.
