Southend United complete loan signing of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Glen Rea

SOUTHEND United have completed the loan signing of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Glen Rea.

If, as Phil says, Rea's ready to start against Coventry, does that mean that Pross is going to drop to the bench? and if he does play and has a terrible debut, will it be dire?

I would hope right. Can't have 3 left footed CB's on the books.

Be harsh on Prosser as he played well on Saturday.

Anyone else think the search for a 'goalscoring number 9' (I.e. Barry Corr) in this country will be fruitless? Whose going to let one of them go for peanuts? The only hope is a youngster on loan from a Prem / Championship club. Unless we are putting our chief scout to good use and will be signing an unknown who has scored plenty of goals in some European second / third division.

Should just sign Akinfenwa once and for all ffs.

Adam Barrett will be dropped for Coventry game then:omg:

I think this is what I'd do. He was poor defensively against Swindon, was far too easily beaten on a few occasions, but this seems to be glossed over because he makes a few exciting forays up the pitch. His lack of pace has been really telling so far, if this Rea is genuinely ready for first team football, then give Barrett a rest and play with Prosser who defended well, and whose distribution was way better than he's ever given credit for.

Think this has been more of a cover signing and I dare say PB will want to have a good look first. No need for urgent changes with the defence....Our problems are at the other end.
