Southend United eye up move for Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Michael Spillane

Clearly don't know much about this lad, but interesting to see that Luggy clearly intends to replace Mkandawire. If we can afford to, good on him.

Also, Dagenham seem to have a decent scouting network as a fair number of half decent players seem to come through that club.

Unless there is a player going the other way this will be a surprise. Decent young player who got interest from L1 clubs incl. Notts County in the summer. He is also under contract. So I can see no possibility of Dags letting go for nothing unless there has been a falling out and they want him off the wage bill. even then they will want something.

Maybe we could find 75k...hmm not convincing even myself

Apparently we could get him for 20k because he only has six months left on his contract so I think that would be a good deal for us.

Played for us in the prem on football manager in one of my games...

Seen him play a few times and he seems quite a solid versatile player. Could be worth bringing in if the deal is right.

We'd easily make more than £20k from the games against Orient, so that could be where the money comes from. Shows how much a cup run affects lower league teams balances.

Daggers forum are not too bothered to lose him. Saying he has been show boating and not putting in the effort this season. Also that he is not that fit. The fact that he was taken off at half time against us may confirm that. Got to say I am not to excited about this one..

Bit like they say tomlin is the worst striker theyve had. I luggy we trust

I work with somebody who is on the Daggers Board and he told me about this move yesterday. He reckons Daggers will only want 5-10k for him. Luton were also interested in him but he wants to come to Southend. He did mention the fact he likes to do a bit of show boating rather than just clearing the ball/doing the easy stuff etc..but he rates him highly and thinks he could do a good job for us in midfield.

Although i have no reason to doubt your information, i bet the rest of the Dagenham board wouldnt be too happy with him giving out this sort of information to a supporter of a rival team. How likely do you think the move is though?

You can't get away with showboating at a small time outfit like D & R but at a glamour club like Southend United (with nearby international passenger airport) I don't see this as a problem, in fact it's the kind of thing we've come to expect from our players.

He seemed pretty confident - but you never know with these things do you.

Villa will stuff them in the return leg.

Im not too sure they will.. Villa will have to score a minimum of 3 goals, and not concede! Given that they have conceded 41 goals in the prem alone, 15 of these being at home, coupled with the fact they have only scored 8 goals at home all season in the prem does not bode well..
