Echo News Southend United in talks with striker and chairman Ron Martin hopes to clear embargo next week

Isn't there a council meeting to discuss the new stadium next week? Could this tempt someone to put some money into the club thus clearing the embargo?

Or am I putting 2+2 together wrongly?

This has crossed my mind. @Napster did some great digging sometime last year and found out that the Zakay and Dellal families were involved in the background with Fossetts. Each family has unbelievable wealth on their own, let alone together. Possibility that a positive outcome from Tuesday's meeting, or granting of planning permission at the Development Control Committee meeting on 4th December, would provide Ron Martin with some very valuable security against which he can secure loans or cash advances from some obscenely wealthy people, to inject cash into the club and keep it running until Fossetts opens. I've assumed in my own mind that this is the 'financial restructuring' that RM referred to a few times before the 'Rona made an appearance. If this is the case then I don't necessarily think it was his intention to use that to get the embargo lifted, just the way it's worked out.

Well let's hope so. The club desperately needs a shot in the arm financially and those players to be registered and on the pitch.

If the planning permission is granted next week ,it makes sense to strengthen the side as it makes utter nonsense of the fact that getting relegated would help RMs cause for a new stadium ,he would want to do everything possible to maintain our league status.

I’ll believe it when I see them pull on a shirt and take to the pitch, to be honest. Strange days when new signings can’t play for months or just play 60 mins and disappear! Remember when we used to get excited about new players?

Let's put to bed the idea that planning permission is about to be granted, although tomorrow's meeting with the Council sounds really positive it's about the deal not the planning permission.

The Council finally issued their scoping opinion and, although it was largely positive, there is still further work to do before the revised planning application can be submitted. I won't bore you with the details, you can look them up for yourself on the Council website, but Ron's going to have to pay for some more specialist reports before we can even resubmit the planning application. Then the Council will need time to decide it. I'd be doubtful if we've got planning permission much before the end of the season.

That's not to say tomorrow's meeting isn't potentially good news, it is and it's another significant step on the journey - but it certainly is NOT planning permission to crack on!

The thing is , even in the ‘best case’ scenario of the embargo being lifted and us signing some decent ish players , we already have a huge task of staying in L2.
Not impossible , but really will be tough.
Having said that , from what I’ve seen so far , despite our abject displays, this really is an awful league , full of ( mostly ) awful teams , so we still have a chance.

Give it a rest Ron.

CCR had it right:

"First thing I remember was asking papa, 'Why?'
For there were many things I didn't know
And daddy always smiled and took me by the hand
Saying, someday you'll understand....

Well, I'm here to tell you now, each and every mother's son
That you better learn it fast, you better learn it young
'Cause someday never comes...."
