Sadly a lot of clubs put out the reserves in the cup nowadays.
I understand why the top sides do it because when you factor in European cups and international call ups their first team plays a ridiculous number of matches a season and even top athletes need a break to recover sometimes but would that really apply to Sunderland? In theory they shouldn't be facing sides that their second string side can comfortably beat so they should be putting out a strong squad.

I'm more worried about the health implications. Packing fans into one stand - what could possibly go wrong?
Agree, my tickets are in Block D. Just looking at the website it’s really packed now. I wonder if we would be able to move across to the next block? May have to dig out my face mask.

I have very few hopes/expectations for today and that intentional negative. They are:

- We don't lose
- Rush plays some part in the game

What will be most interesting is the team Demi picks today and the formation he plays ,i think he will give a few of the younger lads some time out on the ground ,the likes of Rush ,Howard, Philips and wouldnt surprise me to see Coker and Walsh given some minutes either especially if we doing well .

7 subs named today too, so would expect a couple of extra yoofs on the bench for experience.

If Brown was still here then I wouldn’t be, but thankfully he isn’t so I am.
Renewed optimism at last and hoping for a win from JD and the lads. JD looks very relaxed when giving a pre match interview.
