Official Match Thread Southend United vs Fleetwood Town

I quite like it, most have been saying Cox won't score many, so we have two forwards on the pitch, and Cox linking behind them. We also have 2 wingbacks to help out the midfield and also get forward and 3 centre backs, It will be interesting to see how in pans out today.
Would still have liked to see McCouslky given a start tho?

I think with 532 a lot depends on whether you have the right players to suit the system.
This looks promising.

Back 3 all CBs but White and Moore either side of Turner have enough pace to carry it off. Turner in the middle reads the game very well. All three commanding in the air. A few ticks there.

Wing backs don't work if they are simply FBs pushed forward- you end up with a back 5. But bother Demetriou and Coker are very attacking minded and will push on whilst not ignoring defensive duties.

Cox in the number 10 role behind two strikers but in from of two CM gives arable our most creative player license to make things happen.

On paper it works- proof will be in the pudding..

SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell has made two changes to his starting line-up for this afternoon’s clash with Fleetwood Town.

Dominating this game, but only one clear cut chance and fluffed our lines.

At least in other weeks we’ve had more chances, this time there’s just hopeful long balls for Robinson to chase and Hopper to try to win the headers.

Dominating but not leading.. familiar story that. Robinson off for McCoulsky at half time rather than with 10 minutes to go please.
